I finally got out to my first track day at eastern creek on my bike. What a rush! 250kph up the main straight, 180kph into turn 1, wringing the neck off my bike for 20 mins at a time. I was in the first timers (slow) group so there was heaps of traffic. I was passing up to 5 people in the one corner at times. My best time was 2:03, I don't know how that stacks up against cars/toranas, but aparently its alright for a first time.

I think I'm addicted, I can't wait to get back out there.

Well done for your first time, just wait until you become confident on a track = cornering at high speed will see that left knee scraping on thu ground Posted Image

Ha ha, good work, what were you on? If less than a litre sportsbike then it's good (also, for your first time on anything, it's good). Top fun, eh?

Hmmm..looks like a 400cc thing? Though the rear wheel looks too large for one of them.

Thanks guys,

It's a Triumph Daytona 675 - proffessional pic from the day
They are regarded as one of the best handling road bikes out (won king of super sport 4 years in a row). It's a seriously impressive bike for it's small size. The engine has been listed somewhere as one of top 10 bike engines of all time (3 cylinder trumpet injection). The highlight of the day for me was coming up behind a Ducati 1098 and an MV Augusta who were battling. I got heaps of drive out of the last corner and split through the middle up them up the straight and never saw them again.

I've got my knee down in the mountains before but didn't manage it at the track. I would say that I was being fairly conservative and there was so much traffic that it was honestly rare to get a corner without a slow bike sitting on the race line. Next time I'll go out in the higher grup. Even on my 2:03 lap I had to pass people in the corners.

Heath - I would love to have a go at it in a car if I had something suitable. I've got a late model swift and my VK. The swift would be ok I guess but I don't like the idea of thrashing the christ out of our family car. The VK would be horrible (auto, spool, no top end).

Great Stuff Marty.

I had my first track day a month ago in the torana at Eastern Creek. My best time was about 2:30 i think dad said but don't quote that.

I had a great time but theres still slick rubber stuck to my tyres after 300kays lol, I think the majority of it was from the
others running race slicks

Well a year on I've been now been to 3 track days. I've improved heaps since last time, picked up 8 seconds. I've just started building a dedicated tracky.
