hi guys,
i just want to know what you recommend as a good exhaust? the gtr has currently got a 2 inch system under it with a set of extractors, but i want a better note to come out of it.
i was chatting to some mates about getting another exhaust box/barrell that will give a tuffer sound.
so i just want to know what some of you have or have heard and can recommend.
cheers

I had a LJ GTR with some XU-1 gear on it and you can get a great sound from it.

You already have the extractor and 2 inch system (tick).

Just add an XU-1 exhaust muffler and that's it (don't have a resonator or anything before the muffler).

Your neighbours will hear you coming.

I would suggest 2.5 inch system, with either an offset muffler or straight thru (stay away from reverse flow mufflers) .... Oh and having a V8 on one end helps.

In fact my EH is setup similar (extractors 2 inch system).....I fitted a 2.5 inch muffler, offset design and it changed it completely....much cheaper than a new 2.5 inch system too.

I run extractors into a 2 1/4 inch system through to an XU1 style muffler on my LJ 4dr with stock 173, i love the sound and the muffler gives it a really deep note and 'cammy' sound.

Im running original cast iron headers to that go from 2 to 1 to 2 1/2" pipe + small hotdog to a striaght thru XU1 style muffler.
The sound that it makes for a six is fantastic especially when she's pulling hard revs!

2.25 inch is big enough for a mild-semi wild 202 (im running 2.25 on the LJ :) )

single mounted "hot dog" resonator in the mid section, and a single straight through offset outlet rear muffler will give it a nice note :)

my preference is to have the muffler right on the rear no resonators or other mufflers.
i have a custom set of extractors, 3inch system with a hooker muffler.
sounds tuff as.

My Xu1 used to have HM Headers, 2 1/4 pipe to a Lukey muffler with2 1/4 inlet and dual 2 1/4 outlets. Looks XU1 stock at first glance but sounds heaps better. Don't use a stock XU1 muffler as available from rare spares etc as they sound like the motor is breathing through a straw.

Pruple racecar has a single 2.5" system, straight off a set of extractors, kicks to the left, single straight through stainless muffler and exits just behind the passengers door. lol.

Its not exactly subtle!

Twin 3 inch, straight through mufflers. It sounds tough as!
