UC is the same basic body as the LH and LX. It will bolt straight in. Diff mounts are different in the UC. Not sure about the Commodore exhaust.

Cables should be the same. Only difference between Commodore and Torana Trimatics is the side the shifter linkage is on.

Use an aftermarket shifter. Most will suit either, as most of them use a cable. Don't buy one that uses linkages, once they start to wear, the shift gets sloppy. With a cable, you simply adjust it again.

Hey Chop, don't you need an engineer's cert to drop an eight in a UC?

You can use a standard trimatic shifter regardless of which side you need the arm on.

The swinging arm off the shifter can be unpinned and swapped around to whichever side is required.
A few on this board have done it, myself included.

As long as the linkage lengths are correct for the gearbox you are trying to use it on you will be fine, I had alot of headaches with this on my TH350, I eventually got perfect gear selection after LS1LX (I think) gave me the pointers in getting my modding right.

I'd stick with a standard trimatic shifter and keep a more genuine look rather than using any B&M shifter or the sort.

[edit] I forgot to mention, extractors from an early model commodore [VB] were angled wrong to fit my LH/X, I imagine the same problem with the UC.
So you might be needing a pair of those I imagine.

When you get to it, drop the engine in with the extractors loosely bolted onto the engine (I did front and rear bolts on each side finger tight), otherwise you are never going to squeeze them in there :)

Goodluck!

Thanks for that info.
