I would be interested in this information also if anyone has it.
From a little bit of digging I have done on the subject
I have found that Metro Motors
208-212 Walter Road, Morley, WA
Is listed in the Sep 71 HQ owners book as a Holden dealer.
It is also listed as being registered in 1972 in the Cars Characters and Crankhandles book as a Holden/Fiat and Diahatsu dealer
(This book lists a index of all car dealers for the Perth metro area from 1896 to 2000.)
I also have a couple of very small pictures of Metro Motors which are described as being in 1972 but I suspect they are from a slightly earlier time frame.
So it was around as a Holden dealer from the 71/72 era but from HQ SS details I have I do not think it ended up with the 865 dealer code until at least after the
end of 1972.
If anyone knows a earlier dealer code for Metro Motors (pre 865) I would be greatly interested to know it.
Cheers Paul.

I'm pretty sure 865 was Boyded in late 1973.

Hi
Sure was. On the VIN disc, 865 appeared with a "2" (NSW) or an "S" (Sydney) until 5/73 when practically every Brisbane built entry had a "B" (Brisbane) against it. The same thing happened with Adelaide about the same time when most entries have an "A" in the zone column.
I reckon GRUMPY73 would know about 865 but he seems to have dropped off the radar.

Thanks for the information.
It confirms my thoughts that the HQ SS on my records was a Boyded car not a Metro Motors car.
Bazza As a side line I have been working on a data base for the dealer codes for the WA sold HQ SS's
and as such I think I may have a couple of new dealer codes for you and I also have a couple I am not real sure about.
If you would like a copy of this work in progress feel free to contact me at [email protected]
I would greatly appreciate any corrections you maybe able to help me with on this.
Thanks Paul.
