I gather Chopper's figures are incurred in the process of earning an income?, the figures quoted are for private use.I go through about 250 litres of LPG a week. That averages to less than 10% of my weekly wage.

I'd like a few posters here to work out what THEIR cost of fuel per week is as a % of their wages. Would be interesting to see real world figures!
I responed to this request.

My fuel probably costs me about 25% of my total wage, but then I only work part time and my study is a long way away.I'd like a few posters here to work out what THEIR cost of fuel per week is as a % of their wages. Would be interesting to see real world figures!
Thats on gas by the way. On petrol its was a lot closer to 60% of my total wage.
If i was working full time my gas would be more like 10 - 15%

Just for comparison sakes, when I was in the tyre industy I was going through about 60 litres of LPG a week with this same van. That equated to about 4% of my weekly wage.I gather Chopper's figures are incurred in the process of earning an income?, the figures quoted are for private use.I go through about 250 litres of LPG a week. That averages to less than 10% of my weekly wage.

Well it's not that high of comsumption. Driving a Heavy EB GT Mockup, i do a tad over 800kms in my avg week, with work being about 100km round trip for me, 5 days a week. Meaning my avg fuel economy is a bit under 15/100. I can get it down to about 12.5/100 if i PUSSY FOOT the car around, but i can't do that, and it really doesn't save me much, only about $10 a week and takes me longer to get places. I should get the car tuned again, been about 35k kms since i've had the LPG ECU tuned. I change the oil, filters, plugs and other bit's n pieces myself about every 10 - 15k kms.
Not saying i'm a hoon, but i do like to put the foot down a bit upto the limit posted.
Yella, Love the pic make, it's just SO DAMN TRUE!
Chopper, thanks for the input, i'd love it if my fuel bill was only 10% of my income.
I spoke to my grampa about it some more, DIY fuel, and he said that if i can get the gear to do it cheaply enough i'd be laughing. My mum was also there and she was rather shocked i was talking about moonshining, reckons i shouldn't do it. Even for fuel. So my grampa encouraged me more, said when he moves to melb he will spend a few days over at my place and give me a hand to build a still if i want to.
Cheers

Grampa had a bit of exp with stills, and i've come across a few sites online that show how to build a good reflux column still, for making real pure ethanol pretty easy.So gandpa has plenty of experience with stills? He would have gotton along well with my grandma while she was still alive.
Also been reading up on BIOdiesel. Interesting and rather easy to make. Been collecting some cooking oil for a few mths now, should have enough to make about 5ltrs of diesel just to see how it goes. G/f's bro has a diesel generator, will be giving it a go on bio. I'm thinking the odd time or two it get's used a year, between our two households we should go thru enough oil to produce enough biodiesel to power it.
Cheers
