Went to my local paint supplier today and was informed they don't have Lina mint in 2k.
They can make it in acrylic then colour match it and make a 2k batch for me.

Should I try a diff supplier. Will diff brands stock different paint codes?

Or should I just pick a 2k colour that's close?

Any ideas? Or.... Alternate colours?
I'm after a solid colour and something lightish probably because the body is a bit shithouse.

There are multiple codes for most colours, Mint Julep has 3 I believe. I wouldn't worry about what you had being wrong, but having the second one might help, as you seem to already know :)

Try PPG. They bought out Dulux ICI who made the original acrylic paint for Toranas. They have reformulated alot of older colours into 2K. My One of my LHs is painted in Orchid, code 567-15335, PPG reformulated it in COB 2K & it has a new code, 2A008. My other LH is Sable, code 567-15336. This has been reformulated too & the new code is 2J006. With luck, they may have a 2K formula for Linamint, give PPG the original code & they may have it's new formula & code in their data system.

Yeah, tried Wisharts. I already have 'DeBeer' 2k hardener from them, so wanted to use that with DeBeer paint aswell.

Can you use a diff brand hardener with a diff brand paint?

I have had this problem before with the codes but my guys have a spectra thingo that scans a panel if you take one in and makes a code for it.

Moot is right, try to avoid mixing brands, paint manufacterers have varying mixing formulas ie PPG Deltron solids are mixed 3:1+10%, whereas Dulux is 2:1+5 for their clear coats & even 10:1+5 for some of their solids. If you use a hardner that is meant for 2:1 with a paint system that has a mixing ratio 3:1, you may have problems with paint finish or de-lamination etc. Another problem that can be encountered, i've seen painters use the wrong ratio & even after baking the car twice, the paint was still tacky & would not cure & had to be re-painted. For a car you want done right & plan to keep for awhile you're better off sticking with one paint system from start to finish & following their product manual. There are other suppliers who have the formulas for older cars like Toranas, Spies Hecker is one i know of, but unfortunately not all do. I tried to get the paint for my Sable SL/R made up in Glasurit, they told me they don't have any formulas in their data base for cars made before the 80s. They gave me five books of silver colour chips & told me to match one to my car. In any case, good luck with your search. Cheers Matt

Ended up going to Wisharts and they mixed up 100ml of Lina Mint in acrylic and then matched it by eye with colour swatches and also in their spectro thingo machino.

Was planning on painting the car today but the weather had other ideas.

Maybe tomorrow :)
