Before i get my diff cut down to size i need to make up my mind on which rear brakes im going to run. Ive already got the complete hq drum set up but was thinking to go with a rear disk brake set up, using vn calipers and rotors. My query tho is.... how much better (stopping power) are the stock vn rear disk brakes compared to hq drums? Reason i ask this question is because ive been told that standard vn brakes arent much better which i find hard to believe! If this is that case i would rather stick to the drums and spend the money else where on the car.

cheers eddie

HZ pattern disks work really well and with the slightest of mods fit easily. Never played with others as yet.

I'd personally prefer disc over drum
Easier and cheaper to replace
Less moving parts
Easier to dissapate heat

However.... a well setup drum system (which HQ didn't have by the way) can perform very well

The problem is parts. All Commodore rear disc stuff is still available new. Not so with the HZ rear disc setup. Plus it's really only suitable if you have a V8 Salisbury.

Ahh I see Chopper, yeah thats what I have. I didnt realise they were not suitable for a Banjo diff.

I personally prefer the discs over drums but I just fitted a b/w with discs to save mucking around,it's a big improvement but the brakes I'm using are much bigger than what the car came with though.
