i wouldnt try them, they would either not get enough stretch or they would snap.
just put 7/16 bolts in them, ARP 351 Nascar bolts dont need cutting.

Yes, flywheel bolts are special. Apart from the very high tensile strength material the hex head is grooved in a way that evenly distributes the forces/stresses. I use ARP p/n 206-2802; they're easily available. Normal grade 8's might do the job in a standard engine (for a while at least) but I wouldn't push my luck with anything that revs a bit. Socket heads (like unbrakos) are higher tensile than grade 8 but are also more brittle so again would be risky with anything other than granny's church car..

I would not recomend the use of those bolts for my flywheel I have tried them and they do not have much clamping area on the surface of the flywheel. Lay one along side a GMH flywheel bolt and you will see exactly what I mean

A big head will be preferable in any situation

Yeah I know what you're saying, and the six point GM bolt certainly looks a lot bigger than the 12 point ARP bolt. But if you measure the actual seating face there's only 20 thou in it. It does seem important though to follow ARP's fitting procedure as it does take 5 or 6 torque-ups before they consistently seat in a consistent orientation.
Anyway, I'm yet to have any flywheels or bolts loosen with the ARP's so I'll keep on using them..

Mate if it makes you feel better , I have had red (street)sixes , XU1 specs or better for over thirty five years ,with no problems using GMH bolts.
