I swapped batteries in my VN V8 Berlina the other day. Now the car was starting first time every time and had absolutley no problems whatsoever before the swap.

Now the factory immobiliser is no longer functioning - no light and no beeps. Car will turn over but will not fire up.

I had an auto electrician out to look at it and they said there is a problem with the LPG wiring which is preventing any power getting to the injectors. They couldn't fix it and want the car towed to their workshop so they can spend more time on it - the workshop is about 2kms away and will cost me $75 to get it towed there !!!

SO does anyone have any ideas of what could be wrong ? I doubt it would be the LPG wiring since that was not touched and it was working fine exactly 30secs before the battery was removed and replaced. And if it is the LPG wiring why is my immobiliser not flashing or beeping. Is there any way of resetting a factory immobiliser or are there separate fuses for it somewhere ?

Any help most appreciated.

Are you sure you have a "factory" immobiliser?
I didn't think they beeped? :dontknow:
Where is your flashing light that isn't flashing?
Check all fuses.

This is a switch that you had turn off to immobolise the car, then you have to turn it on again to drive it.
All it does is switch off the ignition power to the computer, no rocket science, just an extra switch.
VP had it in the "A" pillar but I think only the upmarket VN's got it, Calais etc. and it was in the glove box.
Wouldn't hurt to turn it on and off a few times though to ensure a good connection through it.
Just remember what position it was in before you start. (If fitted?)

The immobiliser light is in the centre console next to the RTS sticker, below the radio. I wan't sure if it was factory but the auto leccy said it is. It is a Berlina Wagon with all the fruit so it could be factory ??
I will check if their is a separate key switch too - unfortunately the car is not at home and it is my only set of wheels so I have to ride my treadly to go and check it.
I would assume the sparky checked all the fuses but I will double check those too.

Cheers

Have a good look around the battery as well, just incase you might not of re-connected all the wires at the terminals.

To the left of the battery, on the skirt, you will see a heap of earth wires bolted.
Check that too.

Without stating the obvious, have you tried disconnecting the batt for 5 mins and reconnecting? I have seen this happen before, somehow the car detects a wrong frequency and goes into anti theft mode. Simple disconnect and reconnect usually resets them.

Well it has a key switch in the A pillar but I don't have the key.
The sparky told me the immobiliser (not the key switch one) is a factory unit but he is wrong since they don't come with anything other than the key switch in the A pillar.

So I left the battery off overnight and hey presto - working in the morning - woohoo

Thanks guys.
