G'day All,
Having a discussion with a work mate. I have the 1976 LX SLR 5000 from the previous drag racing thread titled (guess my quarter mile times). My mate has a stock 2002 VX with the 255i motor & auto (unsure of diff ratio). We we're wondering whose car would be quicker down the quarter mile. Performance details of my motor are on the previous thread. There's a slab of Crownies on it so help me out fellow Torana Forum Members.

I own a VX Series 2 clubby, 255kw, and its a NUGGET!, a mild 308 would eat it.
The only thing i can say, is on the freeway it does go good, depending on the gear ratio, for example my LH has 3.55's i would get a much better speed in the VX.

With 350 flywheel horsepower behind a torrie you will beat the vx 255 no probs.My stepbrother had the vx clubby and my torrie with roughly same hp beat it every time than he did a 290kw upgrade and beat me everytime but by not much.Its the weight that kills the commies.

I reckon the torrie will flog it. I was at Willowbank a couple years ago and they raced a VT Clubsport with auto against a junior dragster and the junior flogged it. The junios 60foot time was 1.02 quicker than the clubsport

My Hatch used to eat Commonhore Clubby's down the strip leaving them a dot in the rear view mirror. Unless they had some force feed induction or happy spray than I still beat hem but not by as much.
Your mates commonhore will be good for mid 14's. Your rana will be good for 13's unless you can't drive than it will be your fault not the cars if you lose.
