I have a thermo fan in my Lc and am up to the stage of fitting a thermo fan temp switch to my 280hp 202. What temp range should I use?? switch on at 85'c or 90'c??? Any suggestions please

If the sensor is in the front of the head I would go for the lower temp.
280 HP 202? I would love to hear it on song!

If you have a factory water thermostat, it only opens at 82 degrees, you don't want the fans to come on until the coolant is a bit hotter than that. No less than 95, maybe 100 degrees I would guess? Most are adjustable

G/day wjr2980

I'm running a 1985 KC LASER Thermo switch in my 202. Switches the fan on at about 90 or 91 deg C and switches it off at around 84 deg C.

Cheers
Dave

92deg C on and 87deg C off I reckon.
82 deg C off will probably be too close to your thermostat opening temp, depending on what your thermostat temp is.
Are you using a 15 LB radiator cap?

Get yourself a 15lb radiator cap, that will raise the boiling point a few degrees higher. XU1's had the 15lb cap to cope with greater heat generated by the worked engine.
Still recommend the 92 on 87off thermo switch to catch the rising temperature before it gets too high. It gives you some breathing space on really hot days if the thermo fan can't quite keep the temperature under control.

also wire up a manual override switch, extremelly hot days etc i like to leave the thermos on all the time just to build up that buffer incase its abuot to run hot etc

also helpful when u pull over u can turn everything off, lock teh car and leave teh thermo running for a few minutes etc
