A friend of mine owns this Torana, just wondering if this HB 1969 Series II Brabham Torana is the real deal, he's not to sure about the compliance plate?? The twin carbies have been removed and the previous owner put on a carby from a HB 'SL' on to get it going, only has two badges for the car any ideas??

Paint: 01704 - Silver Mink Metallic (Silver Mink was a Brabam Colour)
Top: BVR - Black Vinyl Roof
Trim:40G - Black Vinyl

The chrome instrument bezels on the fuel, oil, temp and amp gauges are correct for the HB combined instrument cluster.
The steering wheel is also correct. Unfortunately that doesn't confirm it is an original Brabham model.
My guess, looking at the unrestored condition of the car and the few Brabham features that I can see it is most likely a genuine Brabham Torana.

Something else to check is the tailshaft . Only S and SL Brabham models used a 3 inch diameter tailshaft . I dont know what colour they were . Differential ratio was 4.125 .

The series 'I' brabham has a stripe over the centre of the bonnett

The series 'II' has the blackouts around the windows I think and a distinct brabham gear knob

What are the front brake calipers? The make should be cast into the calliper. If it has the correct front brakes, it is almost definitely a Brabham.

Some more info. Brabham option was only available on Torana S and SL.
The vinyl roof was only available on the SL and Brabham SL model. The motorless heater/demister was standard on SL and Brabham SL and optional on all other models. Disc brakes were standard with Series 70 engine and on Brabham Torana and optional on 56.2hp engined models.
Brabham Torana also had a straight through resonator, over-size exhaust pipe and over-size 3" dia. prop shaft, wide 4.00" x 12" wheels rims and wide 6.20 x 12 low profile redwall tyres.

If it does turn out to be a Brabham exercise extreme caution when you get behind the wheel these cars are extremely powerful and in the hands of an inexperienced driver can prove leathal.
