Hi all,

I have a LH torana that I need to get rims for. I measured my hubs to have approximately a 61.5 mm diameter. It seems though that all the listings for toranas rims that I have found have listed a 63.5 mm bore diameter.

My question is this. Do I have an orphan or are standard rims (and aftermarket rims using a cbl (hub ring)) all a loose fit with approximately 1mm clearance all around the hub? If so the studs would need to allow 1mm movement before the hub takes any weight?

My previous car was a WB and the rims were often jambed onto the hubs as a "interferenc fit".

If they are all loose on the hub would the rims effectively be stud-centric rather than hub-centric?

Cheers,

You can just buy the wheels you want and turn up some little rings on a lathe so that they seat nicely.

Thanks Heath,

I guess what I'm trying to work out is if there is any wheels including standard wheels that are a tight fit on the hubs or should I give up looking and just get some rings made up.

Cheers

Just be careful with hole sizes and caps, I bought Centreline wheels that had over 80mm holes, and the caps went through the back to front, so you could not get rings made up. Other wise the caps would not go through the rings. In the end I got a cap made out of alloy which was a ring all in one, and when I got the bill it was almost as big as the wheels! They would not give me a quote just an hourly rate. (never again)

Looks like some companies actually make them. Managing to get the specific sizes right may not be easy with an off-the-shelf product though.

Thanks again,

I have found these in Australia too

Mullins Wheels Bulletin

But nothing that will fit the way I want.

What are peoples thoughts of putting weld metal on the inside of the rim and then getting it bored out to match the hub?

Cheers,

I had to fit hub rings on my hatch after fitting new wheels. I sourced them through the supplier - Show wheels. They were very helpful in sourcuing the correct items for my car.

cheers, Gerry

Thanks again,

Will probably just get some volvo rims and get some rings made up to suit. From the listings I've seen the volvo rims have a centre bore of 65.1mm so I would need approximately 2mm thick ring.

Sorry to state the obvious mate but why do that when you could have got rings made up and just cut the caps back so they didnt fit in by so much giving you room to fit rings???

Or even glue the caps on...Not as if you need to remove them....

Cheers.

Unless you want to replace the tyres when they wear out and have them balanced?
