This is the new car for the family

I wont bother writing out the shopping list, ill just post pictures.

Its actually a great family car, baby seat fits well, the roof is high so its easy to get babies in and out. Back seats fold forward to fit in large items. Air bags, big breaks with ABS, takes corners like a roller coaster. Very happy :)

Just ordered some custom number plates :spoton: REX301 (Rexy 01) most plates for wrx's have been taken

Goodluck changing plugs on the things! I used to cringe everytime we had a WRX in for a service!

I cant say Im a fan, but for someone looking for a small, cheap to run family car, they probably make a good choice.

Don't know about cheap to run, my daughter just traded her 2008 sti in for a new 6 litre SS and hasn't noticed that much difference in fuel consumption

We haven't had the car long, but the fuel economy seems to be fine. Previous owner got on average 500k/50L. Its all about right foot control. On the highway it sits on 2,500rpm @ 100k/hr, not bad for a 4cy. The other option was a large VX commodore, much happier with this though.

I have had a good look at the engine and the spark plug positions isn't ideal but still shouldn't be too much of a drama  . We had a 94 LX subbie last so i can service the engines including T/belts.

Much better than a VX

Get picked on by the cops with the big wheels?

Everything is 100% legal. The wheels and tyres are not a defect. However the first time I drove the car I was pulled over "randomly". WRX drivers don't have the best reputation, but I can understand why now. The car eggs you on.

talk about a backwards step !!

but yeah they are not good on fuel... just about have to be on boost most of the time, particularly the earlier 2.0L's, but unbeatable bang for your buck !!! few grand of mods and you will beat virtually anything HSV has to offer...

Nice car just be careful with the gearbox they dont appreciate 2nd gear slams apparently and as for beating a hsv with a few mods maybe off the start until 6 litres of chev engine winds up G.

Cheers, I have heard the same about the gbox's, so i'm very tame with it. Its had a standard clutch replacement, rather than a Heavy duty. Which is good. The two Previous owners have looked after the drive line very well.

Going to teach the misses how to drive it today. :3gears:

Re: economy, my MY 10 is a 2.5lt and generally gets 9.0lt/100km - but I do a lot of country running - think it has a smallish tank too, I've also heard about the fragile gearbox - supposed to have been reviewed in the newer ones, AWD and 196kw definitely makes it a fun drive. I was pulled over for a RBT the other night, was doing exactly 50km/h at the time, just cruising through the town so yeah, probably targeted but when he gets a reading of zero, it's a pleasant feeling to drive on..

I just did my first plug change on my 04 liberty GT (2L turbo), i think it took around 2 hours of frustration to change them. Lucky the plugs are good for 90,000km's or id be paying someone else to do it.
Mine is horrible on fuel unless stay under 2500rpm and use the throttle very very very lightly. I think with "normal" driving i get around 450km/60L around town, i can stretch that out to 500-550 with very conservative driving (0-50 in 50000seconds). On the highway i get much better numbers, upwards of 750/60L.

That has to be my favourite WRX shape, that one looks very tidy... even better with some better wheels and stock tail lights ;).

I've never been pulled up by cops in my liberty, but i guess its the WRX for grownups and doesn't have the same rep of the WRX :P.

Yeah, the new Subaru's drink more fuel, which is weird. After research the classic wrx's get around 450km-500km/50L (no one seems to fill over 50L even on the E) which is about the same as mine.

Don't know about stock wheels or tail lights. I like the modified look.

was pretty hard to get insurance aswell, due to my age. Just car was really good.

After 10min of trying to teach manual in a WRX, i gave up. For the cars sake lol lessons are cheaper than a clutch or gearbox.

Mate I reckon boxer motors in terms of sound are the next best thing to a V8 or hot holden six. Though I have heard that even in NA form they tend to be thirsty for their size. But not sure why this is so.

cheap to run family car

I had a new 2007 2.5 WRX as a company car and canned the first tank of fuel in 280kms.:D The second tank? 290.

Fantastic fun cars but good on fuel - NUP!!

When it rains put it in second gear, full lock right, flatten it and drop the clutch. 4WD donuts.

Oh, yours isn't a company car is it?
