Installed new HP pistons /rings/new cam & a set of AFR aluminium heads.
Car runs ok have only done a couple of Km's but it breaths from the left rocker cover (2,4,5 & 8 cylinder ) only. The right side is fine.Does anyone have any info as to why this is doing this.
Have done compression test and all cylinders are 185 psi + or minus 3

is this when the engine is hot?do you have breathers on both rocker covers?
pcv valve fitted, its fairly normal for fumes to come from rocker covers when engine is hot,if you have no pcv the heat has to go somewhere, one side must have better passage to the sump.
hope this can help.

Have got breathers on both sides, but only one seems to emit a little smoke.Someone else has said that he has had previous problems with one of the head studs into the water jacket and then transfers up the bolt into the head. The engine previously did not emit any smoke
Hope you guys can shed some light on this.

If you hold your palm above it, does your hand become wet?

I took the rocker cover off last weekend and installed another with an open top.I don't think it is steam as everything looked ok ( Unfortunately )I had breathers on both sides on my chev, I also had smoke coming from them 3000km engine. A PCV setup will fix the problem, far less fumes in the cabin too.
I used a ball hone and there a bit courser than a normal hone so the rings may take a bit to bed in.

no more than 4 kmsball hone,s are very good, find a hill and put your engine in tall gear and load her up a few times this will eliminate that idea, and do sooner than later, glazed bore cannot be fixed with out starting again.
