Shit coverage, shit chemical resistance, dries to fast/goes on to slow so you will get lots of dry spots and a shit finish, more expensive than doing it with a gun, apart from that no reason you cant.
Cheers.

if you have the spray equipment then spray with a gun
if you intend doing more than one job just buy cheap guns and compressors as the all up cost would be around 200 bucks
and the spray cans could cost close to that alone

you wont get the finish like you said... you can always give it ago, if it doesnt work out just sand it back.

yeah do what ya please mate, there was a thread on justcommodores where he painted his whole car with a paint brush and it came out pretty good lol
If it is the paint job I am thinking of I believe he did it with a roller, not a brush. He then spent hundreds of hours sanding it back to get a smoothe finish and yeah it looked as good as a spray job when he had finished. Not much $$$ but lots of hours instead !!
So anythings possible as long as you do the prep work and are prepared to spend more time than $$.
I fixed a damaged front spolier and front of the bonnet on my VK Group 3 with spray cans and you would only pick the repair if you looked really close. And that was a 5 minute rush job too :-)

Well i have the equipment just don't have much experience with spray guns! Painted a lot of parts rattle can style, lot of building materials as well, just not panels as such. What would be the difference between gun and can other than the way the paint is expelled? Is it a different paint? What makes the finish any less resistant as apposed to acrylic? Im just not too confident with the gun as i haven't used it, might have to do more research into using the gun/find a good thread on it. And i don't think we're talking Aussie export $2.50 cans in which case i wouldn't even bother but just thought i'd run it by some people who are in the know, be good to hear from any panel beaters!

The difference is in the area covered by each pass. It would be similar to using a 1" brush to paint the side of a house.
You can get spray cans custom made using the same paint and tint system as the paint used with a gun. I have had cans made for small touch up jobs but for an engine bay the spay gun will be cheaper, quicker and produce a better finish.

um just scrool down this topics page and hunt your libary/internet/old street machine/car mags
for books and tips
and if you got a few old panels then practice on them
don't use 2 pack as it's highly toxic and a bitch to get right
i basicly taught myself and while i'm not the best spray painter around i do a competent job
it's a topic that's hard to explain but once you try it, it's easy enough to master the basics
have fun and if you stuff it up just walk away let it dry rub it back and do it over again
(hence y you shouldn't use 2 pac)
and yeah wear ppe even acyrillics/enemal paints got a punch to it

1) find an old panel
2)set up your gun (you'll have to find tips on this as i can't explain it on the net)
3)spray at 12-18 inches away from the point your spraying moving the gun in a even fashion and in a straight line (well just keep it the same distance away from the panel your spraying) overlapping by 50% on each pass
it's pretty much the same as spraying with a spray can but with a gun lol
practice makes perfect and if your not happy do as i said above
one trick is to put the air line over your shoulder to keep it out of the way and stop it getting into the work
if you ask nicely bomber or yudi might give you more advice as they do it for a living
