I purchased myself an SLR 5000 a short time ago and was wondering if anybody has access to build numbers.
This one is a factory auto(M40), would anybody know how few of these were made?
cheers

There is no definitive build numbers on these yet. The records do exist but there is very little motivation to count them all (partly because there are many thousands, and partly as an SLR5000 is nothing special as compared to say L34 or Chev powered Monaros). I'm pretty sure L34 has been done though, as has all HQ-HX coupes and 350 powered HQ's bar Statesman.

LH SLR/5000 production 2,580 is the figure l have seen quoted. Although it seems that theres more than that left today! This came up a while back, from memory auto LH's were scarce but LX's were much more common.

Thanks, I have seen the total figures too, just looking for how few autos were produced, given the likes of the Canberra Torana club incorrectly states that the SLR 5000 was only available as a manual..LH SLR/5000 production 2,580 is the figure l have seen quoted. Have since been informed from a reliable source.
Quote
"The numbers I have are 1629 manual and 144 auto"
So given that there were approx 268 L-34's, although less desirable, the auto's are infact nearly twice as rare as an L-34????
Go figure

Would be awesome if these records could be scanned and kept electronically. Shame to see these records get lost or locked away for no one to see.
You would think so aye? It's not as though there aren't enough people wanting to know. True the SLR may not be "special" compared to an A9X or L34 , but I tell you what my SLR is more special than an A9X to me.
