Developed a problem with my car it wont turn off after i start it i can turn the ignition off and it keeps running smooth as like the ignition is still on i have a msd6al and 120 amp alternator i think it needs a diode on the alternator that ive heard about but ive never had this prob till now anyways to check to see if its the alternator the wire goes to the starter motor cable as does the wires for the ignition and msd(battery is in the boot)have noticed when i turn the ignition off the battery light comes on but engine keeps running strong

Yeah it could be feedback from the alt or ignition if nothing else is wrong.

THE EASIEST WAY TO SEE IF YA ALTERNATOR IS KEEPIN YA ENGINE RUNNING IS TO DICONNECT THE EXCITER WIRE AT THE BACK OF THE ALT,IF IT STOPS THEN ITS THE PROBLEM,IF YOU HAVE TOO BIGGER GLOBE IN YOUR ALT WARNING LIGHT, IT WILL PROLLY LET ENOUGH POWER THROUGH TO KEEP YA ENGINE RUNNING AS WELL,ITS AN EASY FIX TO FIT A DIODE IN THE LIGHT WIRE WITH THE STRIPE ON THE DIODE TO THE ALT SIDE.

Auto elec just been..fitted diode to alt and all is good. The starter relay was feeding a low current back to the dash engine light and kept the car running...took him 3 mins to fix....and wired the elec fuel pump he missed too so all is go.
