Lads. I have an LH SL/R instrument cluster to install into my SL LX. As electrics is not my strong suite, would someone be able to put up a "how to" post or if there is already one available, point me in the right direction? The main points of concern are;

1. Oil sender - is the standard unit (dumby light) appropriate? If not what to buy?
2. I don't have a temp. sender - which to buy and where does the wire plug in at the connector?
3. Battery charge - what is put where to make it work
4. Tacho - I have an electronic dizzy. Rumour has it I need to put something in line to make the gauge work?

Any help would be awesome.

Cheers
Jim

Hi Jim.

1 & 2. Just go to a good instrument place or a Repco (if you can find one that has somebody that knows what they're doing) & buy a new oil guage sender & a new temp guage sender, they are the same as HJ/HX/HZ. They fit in place of the old temp light & oil light switches & use the same wires & connectors.

3. The battery guage is just a voltmeter that works off the 12v wire that already exists in the instrument harness, no need to do anything here.

4. The tacho is connected to the negative of the coil, if you are using a Bosch HEI system the wire with the female bullet style terminal is the one you need. Run a wire from there to the extra terminal on the rear of the gauges near the tacho. Connect it first & check its operation, most work OK, some have dramas. Cross that bridge, if & when you need to.

Dr Terry.

If any of the gauges don't seem to work I've done a guide in Tech section...
