Hi Guys.

To my knowledge there was no unique head casting for an LC GTR. Casting number 7429477 is for 161 hi-comp heads used from HR to HK & 7438296 was used from HK to HG/LC. This includes the 161 S, LC GTR motor. Likewise 186 S engines used the same head casting as the stock 186 for HK-HG.

Yes, but he probably thought that the head was used on GTR only.

Hi Dr Terry I must be getting mixed up here as the latest I have for a 7429477 casting number
is E248 24/5/68 so the early HK time frame before the 6cyl Toranas came out.
The earliest I have so far is E246 24/5/66 so right around the start of the HR models.
The date code on the head will give you a better idea of which actual model it was from though.
Cheers Paul.

Hi Dr Terry,

Haven't you contradicted yourself?

Quote "Casting number 7429477 is for 161 hi-comp heads used from HR to HK, 7438296 was used from HK to HG/LC, this includes the 161 S, LC GTR motor".

From what you advised, an LC GTR 161s head should have a 7438296 casting number, not 7429477.

Cheers
Dave
