I had a magazine which a fella turned a statesman like that into a 2 door convertible in 12 weeks for his wedding and it looked hot.

The one I saw I think was purple and was in Victoria from memory (and that's fading fast), will see if I can find a pic of it, just gotta remember which book was in. Was going to make one myself but lack of experience and Queensland rules put an end to it.

Yeah Neil, thats the one i remember, i had this silly idea to have a go at building one myself but after reading what was required to get it engineered i gave up, not only that it would have looked stupid with a rollbar.

i have done a few things namely prep and paint the boot lid
buy some nos rubber front lower contol arm mounts so to replace the crumbled nothane ones
a decent/repairable rhf door and twin headlight rad support

got a doner hj on the way...
gifted from a friend of a friend
unsure what i'll use off it
might just make it into a couch/bbq

the garden shed is still there
stuffed with crap awaiting it's turn for love

kudus to you for what you done brad
but it's my car it's under cover and it can wait till the moons collide
ie when i have both time and $$$ to do what i want to it
not a rushed "bog and flog"
i have other projects both car and non car i want to do first and these are taking up my time and spare dollars
i see no point in stripping it to bare metal when it's likely to sit longer and cause me no end of pain
unlike josh their is no real time frame for when it gets done
when it's finished it's finished and i will enjoy it then ...even if i'm 60 by that stage
and fyi not everyone who lives in wa works on the mines making the big bucks..
well done to josh for getting it to this stage..
if any one wants to talk further about my lack of progress...or just sit stir post in my thread
i don't care i'm a big boy :)
but be warned i bite....
don't post crap to get to me in joshies...he cops enough and deserves it sometimes too :)

I thought to myself when I read this, "gee thats a mature, genuine and honest reply that dosnt need a response". I can understand that.

wtf is a "timely fashion"
and why is how long i take to build MY CAR
any god dam frOcking business of yours anyway?
or anybodies on this forum of that matter?
stfu on things that don't concern you
it's not all fun and games and there are other issues
other than $$$$
that i'm not going to disclose on a open forum like this

Then I read your PM to me and thought, wow... here's someone who throughout Josh's build thread has consistently given him a hard time for taking so long, be it his fault or not, then as soon as someone questions him about a project of his... Well.... how dare you... you naughty boy, dont dare attack me.

You project, your business, your time frame, your issues, good on you for undertaking it. Thats cool. But people who live in glass houses shouldnt throw stones.

Bite away.

About as much progress as me Alby and I don't even have a thread to update so I hear ya.

Sometimes other stuff is more important.

Brad I'm not sure why you're sticking up for Josh, yes he's been picked on but a lot(probably not all) of it is warranted.

There's a lot of stuff he has said and done to attract that kind of attention to himself, having a crack at Al doesn't change that. A lot of the stuff he has said isn't viewable on the forum anymore.

And on top of that Al and Josh know each other on a personal level, so its not like he's having a crack from the other side of the country or something.

Thats my 2 cents, please play nice B)

It no fun when people disappear from the forum or threads get shut down etc etc.

Jeeeeeezus, no wonder so many people don't post any more.

Josh cops a bit of shit because at times he has posted blatant lies about progress etc... frOck, how about we stop flaming people for taking their time building cars, and start encouraging them to keep sticking at it?

It's hard enough trying to find shed time between work/family/sport/other hobbies etc, the last thing we need as a community is for people to start losing the passion because when they finally get a chance to make some progress, the internet abuses them for not doing at quick enough...

My 2c... By the way, my LJ is currently quite happily sitting in the shed 95% complete, my Premier still isn't under cover, and my VB wag is currently being used as a storage shed in the back yard. Sometimes life gets in the way, guys :spoton:

Your right mate, I agree. I dont know Al's or Josh's personal association, all I see is whats typed out on my screen. And words/comments can always be taken so many different ways by the reader.

At the end of the day, I dont come here to get into cyber arguments or get off side with people, there is just no point in creating drama like that online.

Perhaps my comments were not warranted, and I should have kept my opinions to myself. However, its out there now and I have to live with the consequences of my actions.

Agree. Lot's of builds ongoing which don't get posted about for this very reason....
Plus I imagine it would be daunting given some of the amazing build threads which are here!! :driving:

I can totally see where Brad was coming from, if you didnt know that Josh and Al are closet bum chums, you'd think Al was giving Josh a heap of unwarranted shit.

Joshy has spun some shit, got caught out on some porky pies and failed to accomplish a whole heap over the past few years, but I think he has copped enough crap to make up for it.

I'd say we should all hug it out, but I'm a bit worried about some of the folk around here.... :P

my house is brick and tile thank you very much
josh is a "gunna" a cheap skate and a dreamer pure and simple
if you ever met him in person you would know this
and he cops abuse cause he doesn't listen to the advice given to him
both in person and over the net
if he did the ute would have been finished and sold 12 months ago
i've worked on it
btw he still hasn't painted the rocker covers i sanded back over 12 months ago
guess he's going for the camo look with them
i know excally what it is and what it needed done
and advised the same at the time
my issues are my issues
i'm a private person always have been always will be
but at least i don't post publicly about what hasn't been done or about parts i've brought in my dreams
and have fallen off the boat on the trip over...
