Hi guys,

just writing to ask if anybody has some words of wisdom regarding pulling out the windows in my LH. I'm getting into painting it again and I'm just about at the stage of ripping out all the windows. I pulled out a rear passenger window and put it back in to get a feel for how they work, and it wasn't too bad.

However it seems like something where theres a knack to it that will save hours, so if anybody has any tips or photos etc. thatd be great.

I've done it. Dunno how to tell you how to do it, you just do it! The only trick with the front window is removing the front runner, and not smashing the glass obviously.

I did the front drivers window on my LH sedan and found it heaps easier with the window a quarter to half way down, despite what the GM-H manual says about having the window all the way up.

Undoing the front runner fixing bolt in the bottom front corner will help get the runner on the front of the window out of the guide channel without too much effort and reduce chance of breaking window.

Regards James.

Thanks guys.

I was pretty worried about scratching the glass, but seems you'd have to be pretty careless.

I'll let you know how I go when I get to it

PS I also removed the inner weather seal on the top of the door that is held on by clips for better access.

I can do the windows in my hatch in about 15 mins a side (had to do it a lot when I put electric windows in).
I just wind the window base down to about the level of the armrest and undo the channel bolt nearest the front of the car. Then I tilt the that edge of the window down and slide the guides off the two rollers at the window base & lift the window out. Easy once you've done it a few times.

Its not to hard, i lie down on th back seat and put my feet on the rear window, pop a corner out and try to keep the pressure spread accross the window so you dont break it.

And then the same for the front.

The inner weather strip on the front can be removed with the window wound all the way down, not sure abount the rear or removing the outer strips.

Did do a reply but it's gone west!!! Weird.

No, I've worked it out, there are two window posts, one for a UC somewhere on here.

Don't need to take the window right out to remove the weather strips, although it can be easier. Can also sit the window in the bottom of the door without taking it all the way out, just don't slam the door!!!
