Hi, this wax, does it allow for the stuff to work its way into the joints, between the inner panel and the folded door skin. I have never seen the wax so I cannot comment, however, does the wax skin over and harden and when you reapply over the top, does it soften and allow further penetration of the joints upon future applications?

This is why the mix of 50/50 works so good, but Iam old school and just got this from an old panelbeater with over 30 years plus in the trade and his work was outstanding.

it "dripped" out of the drain holes when i applied it as a living (paycheck worker)
so i'd say it penertrated as it was fairly liquid especially if you applied to much

Bathurst72.

Hopefully you bothered to read my post where i said "Wax coctails are good to."

What i like to do is mix it 50/50 with turps, this thins the wax a lot.

It will now not only seep between joints, but also capillary action up joints. After a few days or so it will have dried to a, well, wax consictency, look at your nearest candle for a reference. Not just a hard skin on top like fishoil, but hard all the way through.

After about a week i like to apply a second coat of cavity wax, unthined, and then you basically have the perfect protection system.

Works on trucks on mine sites, will work on your car.

Cheers.

On the stuff I use they recommend heating it a little if it's a cold day to help flow. I generally spray the stuff on then push the car out in the sun it really gets the stuff flowing.

in this weather that may be counterproducive
unless your in tasmania
wax don't like heat much and will just run and run and run

can someone help me with where to purchase either one of these products (tectyle or wax gaurd) i'm located in Sydney

i've tried contacting the phone number on the wax guard web site they don't seem to do over the counter sales, they told me "it should have been applied to my new car when i brought it from the dealer ship and if it wasn't i need to contact the dealer"

in regards to tectyle i've searched all my local auto parts/paint supply places with no luck.

Tectyle is Valvoline, so perhaps try that?

try VG Auto Paints for something to suit your needs.

FYI they also run a Saturday crash course on painting for free.

From what I gather it's best to cavity wax after the car has been painted. What about if you want to put it in an area that's completely sealed (eg rear beaver panel) and there are no access holes once the car is in a state to be painted and the only way to do it is drill a hole, spray the stuff in and weld the hole back up? Surely this can't hurt it but be good for it at the same time

that's how the rustproofers did it back in the day
you could put a rubber grommet over the hole/s to if your keen
