what type of sealer was used under the floor pan, inside the guards and on firewall.
all the same stuff?
oil or water or acrylic solvent based?
what to use replace without removing all the original?

tar and aspodos
to remove you use steam and high pressure
or a heat gun and scraper and end up looking like erine dingo :)
you should be able to give it a real good degrease and reapply por or tar if you can find some

as in my projects topic for GTR I used an angle grinder with wire brush and sand blasted bits I couldn't brush,
very grotty and sandy when finished
local paint guy does my work cars gave me a can of spray stone guard and lent me a gun that screws onto it,
worked fine and looks good, painted with satin gm black

G/day Limo

Only the front and rear wheel arches were sprayed with a Heavy Bituminous material for stone chip protection.
Also the inside of the door skins and the boot lid skin (but not the support frame) were coated with it.
AFAIK the underside of the floor pan and the firewall inside the engine bay were never sprayed with this Bituminous stuff.

Cheers
Dave.

mine had a softer stuff on the firewall and trans tunnel, is this not original?
it also had the hard stuff on the wheel well side of front chassis rails
I also have LCs on the farm with the hard stuff on the underside of the roof
my problem was if is pitch or bituminous then it is it oil base and what will stick to it?
I was being lazy and didn't remove what was still there, after all it had been there for over 40 yrs so must be stuck well
have to wait and see now if this "gravi tex" as it is called does the job my painter said it would

Sorry, I forgot about the underside of the roof having the treatment as well.
I will venture to say the softer stuff that has been applied to your firewall and transmission tunnel is not original.

after market rust proofing
or tar
the inside of the doors should have been done in wax
