Sorry if this has been mentioned.

Flew back to Adelaide on the weekend just gone to catchup with some mates and head to the clipsal 500.

Was fantastic when the Historic Touring Cars came out, Personally I think there looking really really healthy. It's great to see so many different models... Monaros, toranas, Valiants, Camaro, Mustangs, Porches, Escorts. the list goes on. But a special mention to the Blue SLR-5000 that was running around, what a beautiful car.

The car had engine problems on Saturday, and then Suspension issues on Sunday, but when he was running was just a beautiful sight.

I managed to find this on another website
http://www.motorspor...ng-car-masters/

Sorry didn't take any photos, filled my camera memory up on the Beachwear girls parade!! my god (that's a story for another time, and probably another forum ;)

It was sad to the blue 5000 having problem after problem.
Hopefully if and when they get the thing sorted it might get some good air time.

Cheers

just to let you know that that torana is NOT racing in Historic touring car racing. It is a Biante Touring Car masters car.
They are completely different class of car
1. they do not have a Historic log Book
2. run 4 wheel disc brakes
3. do not run original gear boxes a 5 speed T10 Gear boxes i think
4. not required to run interior trim
and allow sponsorship on the cars

Essentially a sports sedan trying to masquerade as a Historic Touring Car

The cut off for Historic touring Cars Is December 1972 and must be of a type that raced in the Australian Touring Car championship, Improved touring car class or series production clas during the periodand. I dont think that LH toranas were made until late 1973 or early 1974 Definitely know that none raced prior to december 1972

Historic touring cars are
Group Na up to 1959
group Nb from 1960 to 1964
Group Nc from 1964 to 1972
regards
peter

Trevor Talbot didnt race the LJ as he was involved in a huge start line crash at Bathurst last year that demolished the car.

Darky
The yellow LJ rear ended a stalled red mustang at the start of race 2 and then got rear ended himself by an XY -- two big hits

Was just up from the start line and watched it happen
Car was a bit of a mess would be an understatement -- sad thing to see as it was a great looking car.
Took a walk after the race to have a squzz but it had already been tarped and gone

Cars are required to run Four Speed boxes as per the period, They also have to be manufactured as a Four speed. Your not allowed to run ,say, a Six speed Hollinger with two gears removed! Our Torrie runs a Tex Racing SR3 Box. Used to run a Jerico
Cars are required to run an Interior trim. (Allthough some of the trimming in some cars is rather thin!!!)
The Blur Torrie has a full interiour trim, including Door trims, Modeled on how it was in the day, Complete with Hounds Tooth Inserts in the Race seats!

Off to Darwin to compete in the Darwin SkyCity Round,
Will keep you posted as to how its going

Are you allowed to use twin piston calipers and larger rotors, like what UPC or hoppers sell?

Brakes are restricted to a Rotor Diameter of 305 mm
Calipers are open.... We use Brembo Chrome calipers (F&R)
Both ends are 4 spot calipers and Full Floating Rotors

Thanks for the welcome!

Car has ATM, had the engine removed for a freshen up and the rest of the car is up at Bendigo getting some panel work done to it.
Racing was a bit to close in darwin, hence the need for a new nose cone and a few other bits. She was starting to look a bit ratty in a few other spots too!
Amazing how quickly they get seriously sand blasted.

Rear end is supported on the "Standerd" trailing arms (Lower [They have been fully boxed]) and the Upper arms have been replaced with a single 3rd Arm.
Lateral Location is by Adjustable Watts Link. Will follow up with a few photos when the car gets back from Bendigo!

Take care All

Great - Thanks for the info.

can you advise where this kind of rear set up can be done?

Is tht 3rd link running from the top of the diff housing or the underside?

Love the color btw!

thanks
