Hey matt, The Gilmore will not take up any extra room than what is already taken up. The original water pump pulley is replaced with a new one that bolts in the same spot and the pulley is offset towards the motor, so it sits in the same spot as your original belt but is just fatter and doesn't make any difference to clearance issues.

Heres some pics of my motor with the gilmore on the front.

Cheers

You wont need to run the belt as tight as a normal vee belt.

If you run it too tight you will overload the bearings in the water pump and alternator.

The Gilmer belt has teeth that drive the pulleys and doesnt rely on friction.

Most auto lects wont guarantee an exchange alternator if you have a Gilmer drive because most people dont set up the belt tension correctly.
