Hi All,

Not 100% sure if this is in the right section, if not feel free to move.

I am looking for recommendations on a good strong readily available plastic glue to use on a dash, none of the components will be seen, but i require it to not only glue but add strength to the parts.

I used some special plastic glue (Selleys' make it I think) on the VS dash fascia centre air vent mounting screw posts. Worked well on one post but the other one split again when I tightened the screw up.

I've always found welding the plastic with a soldering iron works better but in the case of the VS screw posts it wasn't feasible.

ZAP Superglue (Cyanoacrylates) used with ZAP Zip Kicker is good. ZAP is available in a range of viscosities and a Gel. The thin and super thin are good for getting into cracks. You will find ZAP in hobby shops. Experiment with gluing some other plastics first.

Permatex® PermaPoxy™ 5 Minute Plastic Weld is similar to araldite and can be used to build up the area.

Loctite 401 is a cyanoacrylate/superglue. Works killer for many things. Keep it in the fridge and it will last until it runs out.

It's very strong but brittle.

The other glue I use is a 2 part epoxy from the local hobby shop. It's a "15 minute" glue. Pretty runny for around 5 mins before it starts to cure and will be hard-as-a-rock in 20 mins.

Depending on what it is- I scratch the crap out of it with a hacksaw blade or similar so the glue has something to hold, then I tack it in place with the loctite and build it up with the 15-min stuff.

Go to a REPCO store and buy some "Q Bond" (q bond)

It comes with a glue and plastic and metal filler powders.

You sprinkle a little bit of powder on a peice you want repaired, built up or strengthened, then put a drop of the glue on it
and it hardens up almost straight away.

I love the stuff.

I have been using Zap for many years, it's really good stuff !

Also, Q-bond is awesome as well, used it with the filler powder on a number of things... :clappin:

Loctite 406 cyanoacrylate seems to work great with automotive plastics.
