Hi all, I've got a problem that I hope someone can help me with. A bit of back ground first. I have a Lx Torry with a 308 , VN heads Crow cam, pn. 4619 that runs from 2500 to 6000, hyd. lifters and roller rocker to suit , Redline highwinder single plane manifold, msd programable ignition and dissy to suit. Fuel cms through a Holley blue to a Mech. sec. 650 dp. Thats basically it.
Now my problem. it wont run.well run properly. Before you sugest that the timing is wrong I can safely say that all the components have been checked and checked and checked again by a extremely reputable mechanic.
His suggestion to try something is to change the manifold from the redline to a Harrop or Tourqe power dual plane.and raise the comp ratio. If there is any one out there that has a similar set up and has some problems getting theirs running can you suggest anything? Also can someone tell me exactly what the compression ratio is with flat top pistons and standard vn heads is?
Thanks

Describe "run properly' betterer. Does it idle? Does it miss under load?
It could be that the giggle pin has sheared from the laffin shaft? :dontknow:

You would waste your time and money changing manifolds. All a manifold change will do is change your vacuum at idle and work in a different power range. Have you checked something as simple as your spark plugs. My mums 253 HQ had the same symptons you describe, hard to start when cold, miss at idle and lagging when your revved it. I pulled the spark plugs and half of them were black and clearly not sparking. New plugs and it's running perfect!

It's lean, simple as, prolly not as simple to fix as mixtures, not sure they with have enough range on the Qjet, but they are your first point of call. Get what you have working properly before you throw money at it. The Highwinder gets a good rap and will support more power than you will make with that much cam, my 2 cents...
