I just come across this by chance. Does anyone have any good or bad experience with it. Does anyone know how expensive it is?

From what I can understand it is hooked up to battery and creates a current through the car to stop it rusting.

Pretty much as Macka said.

It does work. As long as every panel etc. is part of the ground circuit.

But you'll notice in the text- "Nilrust also offer a 10 year warranty (conditions apply) against rust through corrosion from the manufactures build date."

Now how many 10yr old cars are rusty? Sweet FA.

The way it was explained to me was it's supposedly couteracts the electrolytic charge that a car get just because of all the different materials and fluids in it. There was something else but I can't remember what it was...

So, if your car is rusty- it won't work properly anyway and won't stop existing rust, and if your car's not rusty, then you won't know if it's working for years anyway.

Pretty sure its at least a few hundred $.

No-one I know that used one of these sytems kept their cars long enough to find out if they were really effective?

This is how I understand it.

Oxidisation or rusting is basically the side effect of electrons leaving the metal.

These things are supposed to pump electrons into the metal constantly(ie a small electrical charge), so any lost electrons are replaced.

I haven't heard of many people using them and as far as anyone can tell they may possibly alledgedly afaik be a scam and as useful as a polarizer (sorry Brocky).

My Dad was talked into buying a device like this when he bought his new XR6. The car was still near new when rust appeared, The device seller said it was Fords problem, Ford said it was the other mob. I don't know if it is the same rust beating electronic thingy but the industry opinion is these things are useless.
If anyone wants to inspect my Dads XR6 it's in my workshop, extensive rust, electronic thingy and all.

add water and bare steel and it will rust
paint is a barrier to the water
rust proofing is a better one
tried and proven over 50 years
go with what you feel is right for you :)

When I was working for a new/used car dealership as a panelbeater we would have cars with these electronic devices new come back into get rust repairs done. Mind you it was the company that fitted the devices they paid for the repairs. So I guess in one way it was cheap rust insurance. But it sounds like not many companies will honour their aggreements anymore. IMHO all the theory of them working is there but they just don't.

Cheers Dave

As useful as a Brock Polarizer :tomaatit:
Will make your battery flat in a week and a half.
The reason it is guaranteed for 10 years is "as above". Cars dont rust as much now that the cars are properly treated and seam sealed.............with a few exceptions........XR6?..........Google rust problems with Ford Territory.

A scam through dealers. Along with immobilisers for current cars.
