Not being really knowledgable on Diffs at all (or gearboxes!) can someone please explain to me what a mini spool does, and how its different to other diffs,
Thanks

there just a whole bucket of fun really.
Well basicly there a little peice of metal with locks the spider geers inside the diff.
When you turn around a corner the inside wheel follows a shorter path then the outside wheel and inside the diff the spiders allow the wheels to spin at diffrent speeds.
but the mini spool replaces all the spider gears, so both wheels turn at the same speed, allowing no give. Which makes the wheels skip when in the parking lot and puts heaps of load on the axles and studs.
but then there is a full spool which replaces the whole carrier instaid of just the spider gears, and then there is a detroit locker which only locks when theres power, and mechanical lockers which have can be locked and unlocked then there are air lockers which enable you to lock and unlock them from inside the cabin using air pressure and then the lsd.....
But there all fun and its hard to explain it 100% with out a demo or a picture
mini spools are the cheepest out of all of them costing under 100 bucks

So welding the diff (so both wheels spin at the same speed) will get the same result...

yes, but for the cost of a mini spool its not really worth welding them, plus the mini spool is a bit stronger than welding
