hey guys i put a th700 behind my red six and im trying to work out what to do with the tv/kick down cable. if i was going to run a holey that would be an easy fix because u can get the little bracket to wack on the side of it but since i want to run tripples it wouldnt b as easy as that.
so waht i was wondering is can u get around it. i was told that its vital to the slipage in the box and obviously you dont want that. would it help by manualising it?
any feed bak would b great cheers fellas

most good trans builders still use the throttle cable when manualising it any way so that wont help(just to stop it slaming into gear when its at idle, cos the trans thinks its wide open throttle) other then making a bracket of the carbs theres not much u can do about it

Chigs is trekking around australia. Unfortunately with change of job I lost a hell of alot of phone numbers, so cannot get in contact with him at present.

Tripples should actually be easy. all that you require to do is have another throttle linkage of one end and a bracket to "space" the outter cable and you will have the TV cable sorted. one thing to keep in the back of your mind when looking at this is that the TV cable actually controls the pressure through the box so techniqually it is NOT a kick down cable even though that might be the end result.

Chigs does not own the car anymore. Cannot remember the person whom purchased it (they were on the board). I dare say that the new owner would have the contact details of teh place that did the conversion, and thus could findout/ pick their brains.

Cheers

I dont remember how that was setup as my mechanic took care of it. The car was bought by holdon(jon), he has since removed it but he may recall how it was setup. I think there was a bracket attached to the firewall. I do recall there was no trouble with setup using tripples. Check with an auto specialist.

The same bracket was used on the holley when the tripples were taken off

Hey Craig how are ya? - Im selling the lc if your interested

the bracket was welded on top of the rocker cover, with the cable end positioned on the linkage of the tripples.

U have to be sure that it is welded in the correct position as if not it will cause slippage in the box as mentioned above, and when under load it wont shift properly.(this is the problem i had) you also have to make sure that bracket on the carb linkage is the right length so that u get the right amount of "pullage" at the certain throttle amount.

a member on the forums here faxed me the details on the correct positioning of this bracket. I should still have this somewhere at home.

If you can give me your fax/email address i will see if i can find and scan u a copy.

If anybody here is interested in this setup, mine is still for sale. PM me!

Pics of the car? yeh i have plenty.

The setup worked really well, just have some issues with full throttel gear changing (it would tend to sit in between gears as such)
its just required this TV bracket to be moved slightly.
