I am dusting off my LH which has been sitting in my folks shed for the last 4 years (sick of driving the missus' electric blue Lancer to work)..... There is but one important decision to make...... The old girl has a pretty sturdy 202 (balanced, mild cam, 350 Holley etc) that puts out about 96rwKw (last time it was dynoed), so it goes pretty reasonably when it's wound up. It's not super hot but it was built by a reputable Adelaide spanner man and all the bits work well together. That motor is now about 12 years old. BUT..... I have sitting at home my old HX Caprice that my brother kindly drove up the back of a VS Commodore for me and it will not be returning to our fair roadways. SO.... There are three main questions here......

1) Will a stock 308 with HX smog gear go any better in the Torana than the mildy warm but not super-hot 202?;
2) The 308 is hooked up to a Turbo 400 with a shift kit in the Caprice. I'm not even sure if the T400 will fit under the torry or if it will be a headache to hook it all up.... Some advice here would be appreciated?;
3) I could sell the 308 and T400 and buy one of these bolt on Blowers that Rod Hadfield at Catlemaine Rod Shop is flogging? I would have to reduce the compression in the 202 but that's just a matter of fitting a decomp plate under the head as I understand it..... Does anyone know of anyone using one of these and how it went?

Any advice or ideas will be appreciated (by me and by the old girl....)

Cheers.

mate in the long run the 308 would be a better choice, youll find with a mild cam (around 218 @ 050 dur), rollmaster timing set, extractors,and carb, it will go quite well,the castlemain supercharger setups make a bit of power on the sixes but they still arnt fire breathers by any means, just save up drop a cam in the 308 and put that in . there aint no substitute for cubes

the easy way would be sell the turbo 400 and buy a turbo 350 they fit straight in no tunnel mods required

that way you can use a std trimatic / aussie tailshaft bolts straight in,you already have the right mounts and sump also. too easy

Cheers that's given me something to think about. If the T350 will bolt straight in then that sounds pretty easy, all I'd have to change is the pedal box and be laughing (it's an aussie 4 speed now, forgot to mention that). The T400 needed a rebuild anyway (and I wanted to keep the 202 to put in an EH one day).

Sounds like apart from the box I almost have all the bits to do it sitting in the back yard....

If anyone else has any other suggestions I'm all ears.
