They used to be made in Germany, OEM to Mercedes, BMW and the like.
Where are they made these days and how much?

I see on their website they offer lifetime warranty. For an extra $20 each over KYB or Ultima I would personally snap them up.
As an aside I have Monroe Gas rear shocks on the LH and these too have been fine. Given a choice BOGE anyday.

boge are a great shock, we have been using them for over 5 years now and have never had any type of warranty problem with them that we know of. they are mad by a company called ZF, which do a lot of things such as rotating type stern drives for big ships, gearboxes/transmitions for cars, the whole rear end in the new ve commodores and make shocks under the brands boge and sachs, and as lhsl said they are oe manufactures for a lot of euro cars.
i can get you guys boge shocks for $59.05ea for the front and $68.25ea for the rear. they have a limited life time warranty.
or i can get you ultima shocks for $48.00ea front and rear. they have a 3year/100000km warranty.

Hi Glenn,

Ill send you a PM also.

Now that my car is on all 4 wheels and has the correct tyres fitted, I find that with a downward push on the rear of the car, on the rebound upwards the rear shocks make a thud noise.

On further inspection Ive found that when the car is sitting loaded on the ground, the shocks length from top case to bottom mount is 48cm, with the car in the air, the same measurement is 48.5cm.

So it appears to me that the shocks internally are bottoming out as they are basically at there full extension with no room to allow for the upward rebound of the car.

Any thoughts? I found the receipt from them from the 24th August 2011, but I have no P/N of the shock supplied on the receipt. Ive confirmed that the upper shock rubbers are in place top and bottom of the body work.

Thanks,

I've literally had every brand of shocks known to man and if ever the saying you get what you pay for was true it is in this case. Through it all I would say if they make Munroe Sensatrac 's for torries I'd be going them as they have a very good overall feel. The Ultimas are noisy and the rebound is probably 4 out of 10.
I know many wouldn't agree but I would put the sensatracs ahead of the Koni's. Strange I know but the 3 sets of Koni's I've had on 3 different cars haven't preformed to my liking. At the end of the day the Bilstiens I run now are definitely the king of the hill , even though I had to enlarge the control arms to get them in.

Thanks Glenn. Hopefully BOGE make a suitable shock for the rear of Torana.

When I had BOGE rears fitted to my Torana (would have been in the 1990's), I had to go with oil type ones as they didn't manufacture suitable Gas ones. Never had an issue with them and the gas fronts are still fitted. I can't them extending their range for Toranas since then though Brad. I may have them somewhere at home...

I currently have four BOGE shocks fitted to the car F/R. However the rears appear incorrect. Glenn is chasing up with the manufacturer to try and sort this out.

When the body of the car is jacked up, the rear axle does not droop down at all, the shocks are at there full extension.

Phillip if you do find them, can you please measure the overall extended length.

Cheers.

The shock measures 480mm from the bottom of the top mounting bolt to the centre of the lower mount.

I think this is 100mm to short. The shocks have been sent back to place of purchase and hope for a solution as quickly as possible as I have to move the car come the start of December.
