Hey guys, went to a local car show type thing this morning, Motorama.

Was a pretty slack turnout this year, i wasnt overly impressed. Especially for the $15 entry fee they were charging.

Still, i took my camera along and took a few snaps for everyone to enjoy.

Soon after arriving my camera batteries decided they were flat so i didnt get a pick of everything, just things i either liked or disliked haha. Also my camera is getting very old and fairly shit so ignore the quality of the picks.

First up the bike shed, not to much of interest in there sadly.

I quiet liked this, was just a late model Dyna with a few nice little add ons Overall it looked quiet good.

Next some shots of a 2011 Softail that Rocky HD had "custom" built, i was less than impressed by this. Note in the closeup of the tank how for the silver outlines they just used pinstriping, and overlapped it on the edges leaving a very clearly noticeable edge...

Pretty shithouse if you ask me lol.

This little Skirtster i did quiet like, think the pink suited it :tease:

This Honda shows up at a lot of local car shows. Its an amazing bit of gear. I would shudder to think how it would turn due to the gyroscopics of the crankshaft but still, i recon its bloody awesome. SIX IN A ROW IS THE GO!!!

Posted Image

Old Norton. I liked the paint.

Thats about all the bikes that were really worth mentioning, which is sad.

Now into the "elite hall" of sorts. Where all the "top" show cars hang out.

Now i havnt been paying much attention to the top show cars of the recent couple of years but if this is the best Australia can do then we suck.

Now, this 57 i at first quiet liked. Black, Big block, Bagged, excellent paint, nice clean interior, etc. Untill i got to the boot. Now i dont have a pick of it but its full of amps, subs, and a nos bottle. Really cluttered and really tasteless. Best thing was there was no sighs of any nitrous gear under the bonnet. Well done frOckwit.

Next up, one for Dirtbag lol. Combi with a 308 in the back. As i was walking over to it i heard the show judges raving about how good it was. So i decided to have a look. If you ignored all the uncool stuff and just looked at build quality it wasnt bad. Not good, but not to bad i suppose. Definitely not what i would class as elite show car worthy but over all a tidy cool car. Panel work was average but i assume it would be very very difficult to get one of these perfectly strait.

Now this little red Esky is always at the party around here, not sure if its a local car or not but its at basically every show. Got a blown 289 in it, and the engineering and workmanship in the car is quiet exceptional, but i dont like it. The engine bay is to cluttered and could be a lot neater, as is the exterior with fiberglass bolt ons. Wood grille is a nice touch, but again doesnt look as good as it should.

This 34 was one of my favorites of the show. Now when im looking over "top show cars" i try not to look at the overal theme of the car but look at the fine details instead, exactly opposite to what i do when im at your average run of the mill show and shine. But this 34 had it all, i couldnt pick anything on the car i disliked, which is unusual for me. Panel and paint were absolutely fantastic, interior was brilliant, engine bay meticulously detailed as was underneath. A real winner.

This Mustang i also liked. Overall look of the car, stance, rims, color, etc all appealed to me. Panel and paint were brilliant, under bonnet detailing was very good except for the fake braided hose shit that was used everywhere, thats very very tacky IMO. Liked the interior, undercarriage was all clean enough to eat off, the only thing i really disliked was the airbox trumpety thing you can see in the pick. It was running EFI, and i had a real close look, appears to just be running a 4bbl throttle body on a single plane manifold with teh injectors tapped in, all very very neatly done. But the trumpets on top are just part of the "air cleaner" of sorts, and i think it was a bit boy racerish and really detracted from what was otherwise a standout car.

Another black big block 57, this one not bagged though. I actually liked this one a little more than the one i mention up higher, mainly because it didnt have a stupid fake nitrous bottle and the boot was a lot neater. Apart from that they were both about on par, the panel and paint on this one wasnt nearly as good as the first one though.

Lil Deuce Coupe :tease:. Over all i liked this car. Not to much to say about it but yeah, it was cool.

Now, this black SB Chev powered LX i really liked. Just a strait uncluttered black exterior, perfect paint and panel, nice rims that wernt way oversized. Very sterile down to business engine bay, and a bit of a flashy interior with matching boot layout that although not entirely my cup of tea did work very well with the car. All in all another of my favorites of the show.

Now heres a couple of sections of a old 50's F truck that was there. I dont have an overal shot of the truck because it was bloody huge and i couldnt get far enough back!!

Again i didnt really like the overal theme of the truck to much, didnt like the rims at all for starters, but there was some absolutely fantastic craftsmanship in this thing. I could have taken 50 shots of just little bits of it but instead alas camera batteries were complaining.

Note things like around the TPI intake, the nice little shroud they have made so the shape follows into the firewall, the neat plumbing, the way the firewall is completely moulded and flawless, and the one piece flip up front end was exactly the same. The chassis and suspension detailing was superb, and little things like the ramps they made for it and the little jigamabob to hold the door open were also very very nicely made. Enjoy.

One of those cars which you dont have to like, you can still spend a good half hour pouring over it, like i did!!

Another Chebby, nothing overly special about this one, but was very neat and hard to pick faults with. Definitely a nice car.

Now this is Mick Herne's new show car. Most will know him as the owner of that really neat Mandarin Red LX sedan from quiet a few years ago, the ugly Anaconda hatch and the even uglyer UC hatch with the flip up front end that used to be burgundy before he got it and gave it a gay paint job.

You can probably tell that im not a massive fan of his cars, and i wasnt a huge fan of this one either. But i would have to say that this would be my favorite of them since the Mandarin Red sedan. Mainly because he didnt destroy another Torana, but also this one is a bit less homosexual in the interior than his last two were. No massive fiberglass sub boxes etc.

This car was actually in rocky half done about five years ago at another car show, it wasnt finished at the time but the body was on the tube chassis and all the airbag gear was set up, so one again he has simply taken someone elses concept and worked with it. I do kinda like it overall though, as far as minitrucks go, and i must say the panel and paint was perfect, as was the engine bay detailing. I spent a long time trying to find something wrong with it and failed. Ontop of that the paint work was pretty dang special, i wouldnt mind being able to spray that good.

Now, probably my favorite car of the show. Cammy with a 8/71 blown mechanically injected and nitrous fed small block. WOOT!! I like everything about this car. Neat as a pin down to business engine bay with not a wire or hose out of place, the flawless panel and paint, simple interior, Even the big rims i think suited it fairly well. The fuel tank was illegal but meh haha.

Now this Mustang i really liked. Neat as a pin and a lot of nice neat touches like the bumpers being sprayed the same color as the center of the rims etc.

This car was one of the biggest disappointments of the show for me. Mainly because when i first saw it i was like PPPHHHHWWWWOOOOAAAAARRRRRR!!!!, then i looked closely. Irritating things like the scratch marks where some six fingered hillbilly got to carried away with the buffer i could live with, as well as the ugly brass fittings for the temp guage in the otherwise fantastic engine bay, but what i couldnt not unnotice was the ugly welds in the boot seam that wernt finished in the least, and the fact that you could still see the line where someone welded a new rear quarter on it. Thats right, you could very easily spot the weld join. Now i dont care who you are, 1mm extra bog over a repair is better than being able to see the frOcking repair.

Anyway, a pick. Only have one because after i snapped it i started noticing the not so nice bits and walked away in disgust.

MR HP Monaro. I liked everything about this car except for the stupid intake air cleaner thing, wtf is the go with that?? Someone had some tube left over from another job and decided to whip it up. Oh well. Bits i really liked were the orange flavored softdrink cans in the cup holders and the Clive Cams mascot on the quarter.

Was only two pushies at the show, wich i was annoyed at cause i like chopped Pushies. They were both really cool but i liked the one on the right a bit better.

After leaving the "elite" hall, i wandered over to the dyno room. Didnt hang around for to much as its not really my thing, but did see a VE make just under 500 at the treads, as well as 240 from a bog stock VE SV6 which shat me off a bit (thats about what i was hoping the LJ would make lol), and this VY made just under 700hp with its Vortec V7 blown LS1...Not bad.

One for Rory, just outside of the dyno room

This B&M blown 308 powered LX Hatch was neat as a pin. Really liked it.

Posted Image

As was this Mach 1

Austin 7 and a 1936 (I think) Buick

Cadi

This mustang i cant wait to see finished. What is done thus far is done to a very very high standard. Also think i might know who owns it but thats a secret atm...Hehehe. The EH in the background which i forgot to get a pick of is also looking like a very promising car.

Posted Image

A few shots of a PV that tends to hang around the scene here a bit. Local bloke owns it. I dislike basically everything about this vehicle besides the fact that its a Panelvan.

Posted Image
Posted Image

This Mack was really cool. Lots of nice little details. Another vehicle that i could have spent ages photographing.

Posted Image

And lastly a random Kingswood that was floating around. This car was cool except for the gayer than two men rooting rims and the "thing" coming out of the bonnet. Seriously dude, WTF??

Posted Image

Thats about it, there were a few more cars there like the Bumblebee Camaro and a Lambo Mercialago, few random things that wernt even worth taking picks of etc etc yadda yadda.

So yeah all in all pretty shithouse show this year compared to last years event, i hope this isnt showing things to come around here!!

Next year myself and a few mates should have our cars closer to being ready so there will be more cars parked outside in the show and shine section hopefully!!

Cheers.
