I am going to fit a thermo fan temp switch to my SLR 5000 308. I will switch the earth on the thermo relay so will only need to use a single wire in the harness.

What is the thread type used on Holden 308's? I have a Weiand Xcelerator inlet manifold. What is the best temp switch to use?

There is a large selection here:

I used one of these. Great product with programmable on/off, over temp warning and easy to fit.

I used a digital Spal controller, but if you wanted something simple, could go with something like....

Or....

Or any of the other similar ones. Might just need a bushing depending on what size the hole in the intake in (not sure what Weiand use off hand... 3/8 NPT maybe, or ?)

Yeah nah, I dont want the probe. Im just going to fit a N/O switch into the inlet manifold, once up to temp, have it switch and supply the GND for a relay which will turn the fan on/off.

Just wasnt sure on what temp to use and what thread the inlet manifold would be...?

thats a nice easy way to do it , it looks neat , is efficient and that is what i did, but i had my radiator mate put a fitting in beside the top hose outlet on the top tank of the radiator

That would be handy! Im just trying to intergrate all the extra's into my wiring loom whilst its out of the car and un-wrapped.

Also fitting High/Low Beam relays and shifting the horn relay and the others under the dash also. I know the horn relay should be in the bay for originality but it just looks out of place there by itself, plus I dont have the original horn relay/relay socket.

Sounds rough I suppose but I just TEK screwed the sensor to the top of my thermostat housing. Works perfectly and is accurate against the factory XU1 gauge.

I like the fact you can set a warm up temp (the unit beeps), a fan on temp (I use 85 deg C), and fan off temp (I use 76 deg C) and has two visual and audible overheat warnings (I use 95 deg C for the first one, 105 deg C for the second one). All temps are easily programmable.

I just drilled out a standard holden temp adapter thingy, the one where your temp sender screws into. Then taped it with a 14mm thread and screwed in a tridon temp switch. think i used a TFS105. Works wonders!!

I used the TFS110 on mine, on the packet it says it was standard on a diahatsu charade i think...

Screwed straight into standard manifold, and only one wire to earth the realy(s).

Got it from our local repco stores here, about 20 bucks from memory.

Cheers

Mike
