Ok

So besides the tail lights bonnet and nose cone / headlamps, from a body profile point of view, what is the difference between the 2. Im looking at getting a UC hatch.

Are the wheel arch's the same profile and is the body line crease the same.

can someone post up a side profile of both cars so i can see the difference.

thanks heap

Scott

The basic shell and what not is identical. It's just the engine bay/radiator support and dash that are different. (apart from the tail lights etc.)

There's a few folks on here doing UC/LX conversions. Check out Berro59s thread.

Take into consideration the different ride heights and the blackouts when comparing the cars in this pic.

It really comes down to a few body changes and $$$$$$.

I love the LX hatchback as they are my favourite cars but they cost alot more than a UC model.

If I couldn't afford a LX hatchback I'd buy a UC hatchback anyday and modify it abit to suit my tastes.

thanks guys,

Dirtbag i was watching your thread about your brothers car, awesome job.
i was thinking about doing the same but the more i look at the UC the more im starting to like it (apart from the tail lights, will never like those lol)
the main reason i was asking about the body shape was because looking through the the treads here alot of people say dont do flares on the UC hatches, now is that because of the boonet and front end lines being more square and dont look good ?

i like the idea of having the flares and tail but not the A9X boonet scoop but some more squarer scoop instead

Flares on a UC just dont look right. I'm not sure if it's the lines or what but a negative on that. When I look at the one above it kind of reminds me of some 70's jap car trying to look tough with flares. The only UC I think is 'ok' are the stock bodied clean lined ones. Otherwise the only way to 'fix' a UC is to Dirtbag it :)
IMO

I wonder if the guy who designed the UC was responsible for the AU falcon?

I think those flares would look much better if they were the same colour as the rest of the body.

Yes Herne, I remember when it was for sale, I think we all suggested the same.
From memory this car was a ground up rebuild. It would have been a good buy.

Roughie, but this was all one colour -

the difference between my LX & UC hatch is the section of roof i cut out of the roof to stitch back into the lx

:P

I wonder if the guy who designed the UC was responsible for the AU falcon?
