if you have the gearbox in , just measure from the flat on the diff yoke where the u bolt goes in (it's close enough to centre of universal) to the seal on the back of the gearbox & thats the length you need to get one made !

cheers

If you don't get the dimensions prior - i will try to measure up this weekend. Car is stored elsewhere at the moment.

The workshop manual specifies 53.70" to 53.74". However, it doesn't specifically state that is uni centre to uni centre.

thanks for the replies, I have enough information now. the running gear not fitted yet so couldn't measure
with an aussie it,s 48.69" so at 53.70" for opel the shaft is 5" longer, lot more than I thought
I measured the gearboxes as well aussie = 670 mm, opel = 540 mm so it matches

Hi Limo,
I measured my tailshaft today and got around 1360mm or 53.90." This was from Centre of Uni to Uni.
Close enough to your measurements anyway.

Cheers Dellas
