I went with this one, had it for a while now. Sprayed a few cars with it and it did the job well. I dont use it that often so i went with direct drive rather than belt. It will plug into a regular powerpaoint also. http://www.tradetool...oductCode=HD240

You should have a Tradetools in sydney, worth haveing a look at there range. Prices are decent.

i wouldn't go less than 80 litres in the tank
otherwise it will be forever pumping air when you run your air tools

Not sure how you established they are Australian. Infact for $600 I highly doubt it - that and trade tools state they are the Australian Agent which to me indicates they are bringing them into the country.
Pretty much everything in Trade tools is Chinese shit, I don't even bother walking in there anymore.

Get friendly with your local AIS agent - they at least can still get decent brand tools if you ask them.

The Peerless P14 and P17 are both in their current catalog for a decent price. Look on Page 5

http://www.aisnational.com.au/smartbook/default-catalogue.aspx

Peerless is an Aussie Company from Bendigo but I would still be checking directly with them where the exact one you wanted it is made. Companies have this shit habit of starting at their smallest product with outsourcing offshore and then gradually working their way up their range till they make nothing and are just a name over the door. Looking on their site they say they manufacture and import compressors so I would definately be checking with them.

I might actually check myself and buy one before the manufacture does go offshore, if it hasn't already.

I also have the same peerless compressor that wot179 has and its great. the only thing i also do is i connect it up to another air tank that i made out of a truck brake air tank for when i spraying lots or im using something like a die grinder for a long time. It helps the compressor keep up and not spend all of its time running. i can post a pic of my air tank if it helps.

Great prices and that big floor mounted one will power anything for years to come.very nice, the one on wheels looks pretty good value but ive got a thing against single pumps ,i see them at the tip all the time, but they are mostly $300 shitters so maybe the better brands are ok,That floor mounted one is big enough that you will never be caught chasing air like the smaller units when using air sanders and die grinders ,my own air compressor is a Puma that i brought new in 1995 and its still goung strong today and ive never had to top oil up as its still visible in window at the full line afyer 15 years(twin belt pump)ive always regretted not spending the extra $150 on the 17cfm model as i have to stop and wait for air all the time when using sanders and die grinder.

Yeh mine is a single pump. The peerless one have a big displacement pump so the pump doesnt have to turn so fast unlike some of the cheaper small ones which have to spin there little hearts out just to fill themselves. And u all ways need seem to need the size up after you buy one lol. Been there done that grrr
