AFIK Pre VR are not linked in any way, so all you should need is to power the PCM via the ignition.

VQ ECU is stand alone from memory, same as VN-VP, & didn't run a BCM so immobiliser could be wired into the VQ's body harness like an aftermarket one. To get VN-VP EFI to work off Torana/HQ-HZ ignition, i run the ignition input wire from the EFI relay(pink) straight to the pink wire (ignition ON) on the original ignition switch. If everything else ie coil, Hall effect module, start relay etc is wired up & the ECU is getting 12V power supply, the injectors should have pulse. To get the ECU to recieve input signal with ignition switch on START, i run the original Torana/HQ-HZ coil wire to the same terminal on the EFI relay that recieves input signal with ignition ON. As WB have factory HEI ignition, i'm not 100% sure if this will work on them as i'm not familiar with their ignition switch lay out, but as long as the EFI relay recieves a 12V input signal from the ignition switch in both ON & START position & everything else is wired up as it was in the VQ, it should start. From memory, all 5.0ltr VN-VS auto cars had a neutral start wire(grey) from the ECU too, i always make sure to wire this up to the neutral start on the trans shifter. Hope i've made sense, i'm pretty hopeless at explaining things like this on a computer screen.
