If so, has anyone re-painted this edge? What colour should it be? How did you paint it? Brush/spray?

As stated above, a silver paint pen can be used to re-stencil the bordering. If you are after the concourse factory original finish, Dash Original in S.A restore the original chrome finish but i've been told it is expensive & there is a long waiting list. He didn't even reply to my email enquiring about his services, but i believe his work is very very good so it maybe something for you to consider. Cheers Matt

the only reason i did it this was this appeared to be how the factory did it.
and the bloke that did it wanted over 800 wtf???
i also did the ss door trims in my hdt replica the same way just cleaned all the flaky plastic off masked up sprayed along the piping .magic.
but silver pen gives the desired effect in the torana

Yes Matt is 100% correct in that the original factory finish was chrome. If you want to spend an absolutely silly amount of money on your dash then yes, places like Dash Original can redo the chrome plating. Second best option is the silver paint marker which while is pretty close, its not perfect.
Cheers Mick.
Reading this Quote makes me laugh! I think we are fortunate that a business like Dash Original exists to restore dash panels. Alot of Trimmers/dash businesses who restore interiors will not attempt this process because of the cost involed and time spend/materials/wages with restoring parts. For example the materials used on an LX SL/R-SS dash panels would be - cleaning products for plastic, products for repairs to broken/missing parts,paint- plastic premier, under coat and top coat paint. Then the time to clean/fix/mask/paint/stencil heater and fan icons to the parts so the dash panels are in perfect condition when finished. I am sure the people that Dash original employ to restore examples like this are skilled and want wages that reflect their work efforts. I have used Dash Original several times when restoring my interiors and I have loved everything they have done! The amount work they can offer classic/muscle car owners is great. Hence why you wait for parts/interiors they restore due to their work load, small work force of skilled tradesman and they tackle the harder jobs that others turn away! Give them credit.

I think that it goes without saying that I too, would plug their business and use it myself several times over and be completely satisfied if I were the owner's son as well!
