Looking forward to seeing this build progress. Sounds like a cool plan you've got.

My nextdoor neighbour had the same thing happen few years ago with a VH he bought. He bought it believing it had a 308 only to find out later that it was a 253. Bummer! Still, a 253 could be a good economical motor for a daily. But I guess you probably want an engine to at least match the Group A looks.

I would like to see a late model Commodore independent rear suspension in one of these early Commodores.
That would be cool

You gonna have a dig at replacing the rust? Or get a spare door and transplant it?

Brings back memories this build. This car started life as an ex powder blue Victorian Highway Patrol car and finished up a Group A replica (sort of). I sold this car and brought the Barbados green torana you see in my Avatar pic.

Yeah I know but I've been a Torana man all my life and when the Torana came on the market it had to go. The Commodore had a stroked 308 with turbo 400 and a nine inch diff. Keep the build pics of yours coming. I'll be following this build as a walk down memory lane.

after a few to many phone calls looking for a rear cut to fix the vk i was at a loss ,they wanted between $350 and $600 for a rear cut. i phoned a scrap metal mate of mine to ask him to have a look around for a vb to vl to cut. as it so happened he had to pick one up in a day or two, so after 15 mins with the oxy and $50 handed over i got my rear cut i need, now just need to find a few doors
