I am just looking at rebuilding another 3100X block and moth balling the original in my car just incase.
I have managed to find one but I am just wanting to know the large number that holden stamp into the side of the block. On a jp block it has a large 202 stamped in the otherside to engine number. What is suppose to be stamped in the side of a 3100X block ?? I tried to check on my car but can't see in due to the heatshield and stone tray being in the way. 202 is the number used for the 3300cc LJ block isn't it? If the LC blocks were smaller than it should be 186 or something shouldn't it?
cheers

3100 cc = 189 ci.
186 ci = 3048 cc.

Hi Guys.
Without being too pedantic, the number on the side of the block (near the alternator) is cast, not stamped into the block, it's part of the block itself. It's the engine number that is stamped.
To answer the question, both the 3100X & CK prefixed engines used in LC GTR XU-1s are both 186 blocks, so they will have a large '186' cast into the side of the block.
Dr Terry.
