But since its a UC. ......
MY VB had them.. 1978... so UC maybe
But really... he's being pedantic and its not law that you need mudflaps
Modern cars don't have them ... they are an option on some.. .but not all
Surely they can't enforce it

AFAIK the uc torana didnt come standard with mudflaps. Just looking here in the uc owners manual on p50 it shows how to remove the wheel trim, no mud flap in sight, so Id be putting that in front of the inspector.Ring tech section in Perth to clarify
Or take it somewhere else
However, I dont think you can tell from the compliance plate whether it was an sle sunbird or not, the engine, diff and tranny code can give it away as a sunbird, but sle...dont think so, unless they really know their stuff and notice that the rear door courtesy lamp switches are there, this would also apply to the torana uc sl deluxe model.
the sle sunbird basically had all the options on it(including flaps), in which case the inspector may have a case.
Im guessing yours was a sunbird, and have done the v6 transplant?
That being said, one of our uc sl's had mudflaps and no other extras, whether they fit them to all later on in the model run, dont know.
Here is a pic from a ebay add of what looks like an sle sunbird on a gregory's manual:http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?VISuperSize&item=270822481091, no flaps
none here either:http://www.integracar.com.au/ccp0-prodshow/Holden-Torana-UC-6-cyl-1978-1979-Gregory16.html

Trim code maybe? SL/E trim was unique to SL/E I believe.

I would either challenge them to prove in what way it is unroadworthy and how it doesn't meet ADR, or if they want to be real wankers, just fit a set, then take them straight off again.
If you don't want to have holes to get it past the dickheaads, just glue them on or double sided tape them :-)

And new cars do have them, just not the flexible rubber kind.........
The Lokka is definitely illegal if you can switch it from the cabin - but I have a feeling they are illegal for road use anyway, switchable or not.
Idle rough? Hard shift? Idiot.

The Lokka is legal as it is not permanently locked, e-lockers and air lockers are also legal in WA under the NCOP.
A proprietary part-time differential locking device may be utilised, provided that the driver can control it from the normal seating position
