just wondering what the markings mean on an a9x
appears to be hand written in red crayon
have seen a9x followed by a number
different on different vehicles?

Are you referring to the raised section the front mount of the seat bolts to ?
If so all Toranas had a number there (pass. side) in wax crayon or similar. I once asked Mike Prowse who worked for GM-H at the time what that was about. I'm fairly sure it was a reference to the colour the car was to be painted.
Red A9X may be able to shed more light on it.

You often see crayon marks on the firewall of cars that didn't have the front panels and rails fitted in the Body Assembly Plant like HQ-HZ in the Pagewood plant. It makes sense Torana would have it elsewhere as the rails would have been fitted in the BAP. Even my old Pagewood assembled '57 Chev had the paint colour chalked on the firewall (Shannon for Shannon Green).

i have had this car for nearly 27 yrs and only now am i asking for answers to questions that i genuinely don,t know the answers too
i thought that this is what this great forum is all about
maybe i still do
