Hi i have recently purchased a VL Calais Turbo. Its white with colour coded bumpers, factory 16 inch Momo's, HDT kit ( spoiler and letterbox grille, side skirts) factory Brock steering wheel , big bore exhaust, extractors, Eurovox stereo and Cobra car alarm. The car has log books with and inside was a HDT build and spec sheet for a commodore sport listing every upgrade the car has - Nothing has changed from factory all still there. The car has no HDT build plate under bonnet although looks like something could be missing there. All normal plates are in place and never removed. Im not sure if i have a basic calais turbo or something else ??? Can anyone help me please to identify the car ?
Thanks John
Thanks John

There is a mark on the rear garnish which looks like an "LE" badge was there at some stage on the bottom half under the calais emblem ? It has "Calais LE" badge on the dash and the very beautiful blue calais interior......
Thanks Gene Is there anything else i should look for ???????

Is there any markings on the top of the firewall where the HDT Tag would have been?
Go to the source John.
Call HDT in Sydney (1300 364 252) OR visit their site as they have ALL the files on ALL HDT vehicles archived.
They will be able to confirm whether the car is HDT by the numbers (which still does not 100% confirm it as genuine) or whether it is made up of HDT bits from the shop or other cars.
Pics of the tags and firewall would be good.
There was a roaring trade in HDTs in Sydney in the late 90s, and there are many, many "genuine, original" cars made up of spares from HDT after they were stripped. I know of a particular Blue Meanie that is still touted as said genuine, original, and I know the workshop that was apparently broken into when it was stripped bare........
Over the last five or so years this has moved to Brissie HDTs........

Hi yes there there seems to be a hole which looks to have had a pivot in it and another near it. Both to the left of the normal vin and compliance plates..... All body kit parts are HDT stamped and all look very much original. Same wear on the paint as well as the brock steering wheel, exhaust, badges etc. The car came with the instructions for the upgarded suspension and how to adjust it. The HDT build sheet is for a Commodore Sports pack which is all HDT parts of which my new car has every last option on the sheet. Even has the original HDT we build excitement decal on outside rear window which is also listed on the sheet. I bought the car last week thinking it is just a normal calais but now thinking it could be more than that. I contacted the female previous owner that i bought it from today ( she had it for the last 16 years and never touched the car) and she was adamant the build sheet was for the car- she was the second owner and i am now the third. I will contact HDT to see if i can find out more !!!!!!! Thanks guys cheers John feel free to add more comments or thoughts
