Howdy All,
I have my SLR 5000 insured with the a mob but will be cancelling next week as I have had nothing but problems with them since I bought my car six months ago & insured it with them. Problems I had were -
a. Increased the policy from $18 to $23,000 dollars. Five weeks & 5 phone calls later still haven't recieved anything in writing in the mail to confirm this,
b. Every time I ring up to chase it up they speak to me in a very unproffesional manner as if it's my problem.
c. When I did get the policy increased there was no mention at all of the premium increasing until I checked my internet banking & found that they had increased by pay by the month allottments from $39 to $51 without telling me. I assume that it is wrong at the least if not illegal to increase an allotment from an individuals a/c without informing either verbally or in writing prior to doing this.
I have as of 4.30pm today insured my car thru GIO under vintage & veteran & received a far better deal & was handled in a more proffessional manner thanks to the thread from OrangeLJ (cheap insurance!!!).
I am dreading having to cancel the allotment now as from whats happened to me in the past it will probably take months.
Finally this has only happened to me personally & I am in no way trying to deter people from dealing with this insurance company it's just "my personal experience".

Admin Edit: Please do NOT mention who the company is. For those wishing to know do so via PM

Hux,
Funny I had a very similar issue recently with my LX slr 5000, contacted the said company on recommendation from of all clubs the Mustang owners club Vic, and was given a quote and I agreed to the quote, 4 weeks later paperwork arrives all wrong 100% higher than quoted price and vehicle details all wrong (I knew he was not listening on the phone and I repeated the car details to no avail). 6 weeks and two WRONG paper work letters later I rang which was 3 weeks ago I am still awaiting return call.
However in the 5 day's after I rang, I organised better, comparable price and higher cover insurance with another specialist company who's operator/insurance consultant knew everything about my car.
I will PM you to see if it was the same company.

Regards
Duck05

PS: Admin guy's!!! how do we stand if we do mention thier name just to protect our fellow members from thier incompetence????? Surely if we only state facts they have no recourse??

Rorym,
You could be right, I wonder would all the wrong letters I have be sufficient. :deal:
Who knows? Anyway, if anyone wants to know who it was just PM me I will be happy to tell you. I certainly told the MOCA and they were going talk to the insurance company about it because it reflected badly on them.

Tinkers,
That did "cover it" that is why I asked the question, and did not post the company name. Tiny is right it is not worth the risk and is also not really what this forum is about although I will let people know privately so they don't go through the same crap we did.
By the way I still don't know if Hux company is the same one as me!!!

G'day All,
Just a quick one for the administrators as I don't know how to PM you direct. Why can I recommend an insurance company's name on this website but when it's the opposite I can't.

Hi All,
Have had many PM's re this topic and just to let everyone know the insurance company that looked after me with a great coverage deal at a very competetive premium in a knowledgable and proffessional manner was SHANNONS insurance and I would recommend them to anyone they are just like us genuine enthusiasts who know cars and appreciate our needs. Also have a think about car shows we all go to and how many are sponsored by SHANNONS wow an insurance company that gives something back!!! its all good.

Regards
Duck05
