As the base model the Belmont missed out on a few extras
But some people bought the cheaper car and optioned stuff up anyway

Vinyl floors not carpet, bugger-all chrome, less colour combinations. (White paint and poo-brown/black interiors were the norm.)
Can't remember the rest, not many Belmonts around, and the Kingswood was pretty basic too...

My HT is a Kingswood.
It has(had) vinyl floor coverings,161 3 on the tree,radio delete,heater delete,bench seat.
But it does have chrome along the tops of the doors,wheel arch and sill molds.
It also has disc brakes and is two tone .(white/gold roof)
Some of these things may be options,or they may all be standard Kingswood items.

The Torana S model with either a 1900 4-cyl or 2850 6-cyl engine had 4 wheel drums as standard, with front discs as an option. The 4-cyl S was discontinued when the Sunbird was released (Nov 76). I believe that the front drums on the 6-cyl S model ceased at the intro of RTS (Mar 77).What model LX still had front drums, i thought front drums finished with the LH.

There was no heater or radio fitted as standard to HT Kingswoods (radio was not standard fitting on any Holden in those days).
Of all of the items listed only the discs & two-tone paint scheme were options, all the rest is how they came factory.

Belmont is a Luxury Level, just like S, SL, SL/R etc. Kingswood is a luxury level too.
It is a misnomer to call a HQ-WB a Kingswood, it is the same as calling all Toranas SL's. The proper name is Holden. So you say HQ Holden, like you say LH Torana or TX Gemini.
The luxury levels for say HK Holden ignoring coupes ran as: Belmont, Kingswood and Premier. (Coupes were Monaro, GTS and GTS327, Monaro is the same luxury level as Kingswood).
HQ were HOLDEN, Belmont, Kingswood, GTS and Premier. Coupes were Monaro (2 door Kingswood), LS (2 door Premier), GTS and GTS350.
Belmont was introduced in HK and was available on ute, van, wagon and sedan until HQ. For HJ-HX it was only available on sedan and wagon.
Kingswood was available on HK-WB and was available on:
HQ-WB ute;
HQ-HX sedan and wagon;
HX-HZ van.
In HZ the Kingswood sedan and wagon was replaced by Kinsgwood SL which was a more highly optioned vehicle than a HZ Kingswood ute or van, however there was a delete option pack available on Kingswood SL sedan and wagon to make it a KIngswood (option A9K from memory), mainly for fleet usage.
The WA Kingswood was to be a HJ Statesman body with front panels as per WB Kingswood - the prototype is a Birdwood.
Note also the HOLDEN which was the luxury level used in 48/215 until the business sedan was released was re-introduced in HQ for the 1-tonner. When the HJ series was released the ute and van joined the 1-tonner as a HOLDEN. This continued until the end of WB. Note that I use HOLDEN simply as a word to describe the luxury level. In reality it really doesn't have a term, the proper method to call them is simply HQ cab-chassis, HJ utility, HX Panel Van. So for example for the HX Holden range you had:
HX utility, panel van and cab-chassis.
HX Belmont sedan and wagon.
HX Kingswood ute, van, wagon and sedan.
HX GTS.
HX LE.
HX Premier sedan and wagon.
To answer the original question, what a Belmont was depended upon which series you are talking about, what body shape and for HT-HQ what engine configuration (6cyl or V8). What came standard depended upon all of the above. It also depended upon what special option pack may have been applied to the Belmont eg for HQ it could be for example XX7 (Sandman), XV2 (SS). There were others too like BO2 (taxi) etc. Whilst these were option packs they were meant to be seen as a separate vehicle (like XU1 option on GTR etc).

its hard to get more basic than a lx torana with a bench seat, three on the tree and drum brakes, but they had carpet and a heater.Thanks Dr, just never seen one
but hey, it depended what you upgraded from, if it was an ej "special" with just the heater, then one with a fan was luxury

Your basic LH/LX Torana S had vinyl flooring as standard (just like Belmonts & early Kingswoods), carpet was an option.its hard to get more basic than a lx torana with a bench seat, three on the tree and drum brakes, but they had carpet and a heater.
but hey, it depended what you upgraded from, if it was an ej "special" with just the heater, then one with a fan was luxury
They only fitted a heater as standard in the base models because it was mandated by the ADRs.
EJ Specials had no heater fitted but a motorless or motorised heater was available as a dealer-fitted accessory.
