I recently purchased a pair of these headlights believing that they would fit my LH torana.

My LH had already been converted to the round LX style headlights. My problem is i cant work out how to fit these. There is no way to mount them, and im uncertain how to place the park light globes in them.

Any help would be appreciated. Supposed to be going for rego check tonight. Im happy to post pics if needed.

There should be three screws that hold a thin metal surround on the outside of the headlight that attaches to the nose cone. Undo them and you will find another metal surround that fits snugly around the headlight. Undo those and the headlight should fall out once the wiring plug is dis-connected. Installation is reversal of removing. Align and go. The only problem is that HQ-HZ headlights didn't have the parker in the headlight, it was mounted in the bumper for the HQ and next to the headlight from HJ onward.

I should elaborate on the problem....

The lights dont fit in the backing metal section. Im guessing im going to have to file them down to fit.

Im also guessing i have to drill a hole for parkers....unless there is any other way? Besides buying new headlights

Sounds like they are fouling on the replacable (semi-sealed headlight type) globe and globe retaining clip!.....Just do as you have said with drilling....make sure you pop a rubber grommett where you drill the park light hole so insulate the wires!

The backing metal plate is different between sealed beam and H4 type headlights. I would re-locate the parkers, rather than drill holes in the headlights. I personally would just get the correct headlights.

I dont think that Ben was actually going to drill the glass itself, as the park lights will alreay be fitted to the assemblies, with 2 wires coming out from the globes. I think he was more referring to the loom and clips fouling on the headlight holder, and modifying them to get clearance so that the retaining rims on the outsides can be fitted, if this makes any sense!

It makes more sense than drilling holes in headlights.

I just trimed the headlight holder so it would fit.

I also drilled the headlights to slide in the park lights. Hopefully it will get me through rego tomorrow then im going to source some more appropraite ones. Drilling didnt do much damage to the headlight, just some small chips in the nice shiny insides.

Cutting the backing buckets is common practice, so not much of an issue.

drilling the rear of the headlight isnt exactly the best way to mount the parker, but if it works, it works!
