Hey All,

As you know i have a LH SL/R.

The suspension in it has had it!

I am looking to do springs, shocks and all the bushes.

Currently, the car is extremely low, the rear tyres scrub against the flares, the droptank hits, as does the exhaust.

What have poeple used for hte following;

Front & Rear Springs/Shocks - What brands, whats been tried and tested and how low do you purchase - any pics of cars would be great with specific heights. I dont want the car to be too low, but i dont like the 4WD look on torries.

Front Crossmember - Looking through previous posts, there's a mixed reaction between the different types of bushes.

A good friend of mine swears by Noltec products, has anyone tried these before and if so what have they been like, do they stock a complete front end kit?

Are rubber bushes really that bad? the ones in the car appear to have lasted 30 odd years, so........

It is a street car, but will see the strip alot quite soon.

Any help is appreciated.

I normally get 15 years out of rubber bushes. Crap urethane ones can be rooted in under six months. Please state your wheel/tyre combo, as that has an influence on your suspension setup.

I currently have GTS wheels on it, the fronts are 14x6, the rears are 14x8 i think.

I may be getting some 15x6 & 15x10 weld wheels for it though in the future, not to sure yet, either way i wont go to big on the front, as i want it to be drivable!

Since you used the word driveable, don't lower it more than 1.5" The next two questions are, does ride comfort matter and what is the budget?

Ride comfort would be nice, but hey its a 30 year old car so its not going to be like driving a new car, however i dont want it to bounce around too much and be too uncomfotable, i will be doing all the labour myself, so i can save on costs there, i like to buy quality stuff, but dont want to spend a fortune i you know what i mean.

If you want ride comfort, stick with rubber bushes. If you replace the lot, they should last until 2020. Get some Pedders Comfort gas shocks. There is a place I got my springs from that make them to your custom spec, ride height, spring rate etc. They are in Melbourne and only deal in cash. If you want street/strip springs, they would probably be the place to deal with. Allow a couple of weeks for them to make them. They charged me $110 for front springs, which was $54 cheaper than Pedders.

Chopper is unregistered. So i don't think he will be able to help you with this for know. Some members communicate with him outside the forum they might be able to ask him for you.

Hi BCR42Y
Noltec bushes are very hard and may stiffen your suspension as
for shocks & springs i wouldn't go past PEDDERS

Mate superpro and noltec bushes are good, stay away from nolethane they would be the urethane ones that go to shit that chopper referred to before.
As for springs, I use King springs, and if you are wanting to be careful about your ride hide, you can get some custom springs made by them to suit your desired height/application.
Shocks, if you want to go round bendy bendy's a bit, then koni's are'nt over the top expensive, and allow a bit of adjustment. (only for rebound i think!)
Sway bars, whiteline would seem to be a good way to go. I am pissed at myself for going against my suspension specialists advice and bought k-mac. The quality of their current kits is nothing on their old stuff, just my opinion!!
Front end, general consesus is the UC front end is the way to go, all have RTS and solid mount rack, both desirable for better handling and feel.

sorry to hijack the thread, but can any one tell me if there are shocker companies that still make oil shockers, as i replaced my rear shockers a couple of months ago with gabriel oil shockers and i want to do the same for my front, all i seem to be able to find is gas shockers and they seem to make the car sit higher. or have i missed the point some where?

cheers adam

did you bleed the gas shocks before fitment.

you have to compress and extend them several to to get them right before you put them in.
