As the heading says, I have a brand new set of ACL Pistons here...theres no box or details with them, but on the crown the markings say.........RA2027.......can any parts gurus identify these for me please???..........I was told they might be ACL Duralites but I'm unsure.

Thanks in advance...........STRETCH

2027 is an old #
2028 suits 161 .... so I'm thinking red 6
Not the number listed for grey or 149 in the cattledog... 179 maybe.... still looking in old books for you

Looks like it might be an old # for 186

The part number does sound like some Holden 6 pistons scratchings I've seen before. Check to see if there's any other ID stampings on the pistons. Maybe you should measure the pistons with a micrometer.

It might help if yopu posted pics of any ID marks, including any letters or numbers cast or stamped anywhere on the piston, including under the piston crown.

Looks like an old style 186 Duralite to me. You can verify it by measuring it, the OD should be around 3.65" and the distance from the centre of the pin to the top should be about 1.78" (or about 1.66" for a 202).

I bought a set of new flat top 202 Duralites from ebay a while back. When they turned up I opened the box just to make sure there was no obvious damage and that they were all there then I put them on the shelf. About 12 months later I got them down to use in an engine but when I looked at them closely every one of the bastards had the pin bore machined cockeyed, probably 2 or 3 degrees out of square at least. A bit late to complain 12 months later...
Anyway I learned the hard way to check everything carefully as soon as it is delivered. I've still got them, dunno why, might as well chuck them out...

Stings - those are new style. Most ACLs look similar to that with appropriate pin height and crowns etc for the application. Coaster bus pistons are identical to those you have, with FuD 250 pin height and a donut to increase compression on the face.

In the good old days they looked like what came out for each engine..........

So I thought I would let those interested that these pistons are in fact Stirling (Federal Mogul) Duralite Pistons apparently
